GRETHE FRIS (GRETA) FOX (nee THOMSEN) Peacefully, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away, with her family by her side. Greta was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth in 1987, and daughter Debbie in 2006. She was also predeceased by her parents, Viggo and Elise Thomsen, and her six siblings. Mom leaves to mourn her passing her children, Gary (Sandy), Bryan (Judy), Kenda (Richard), Colleen (Paul) and Kyle (Deb), her grandchildren, Amanda (Joe), Kurtis, Ryan (Kelly), Jordyn and Bryant, two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Brody, and her brother Ron Thomsen. Mom was born on March 8, 1925 in Ribe Denmark and, with her family, immigrated to Winnipeg. In 1950 she married her true love Ken and together they raised six children. She was a stay at home mom who devoted herself to family and her home in Transcona. She had her daily routines, and on Mondays you could usually see clothes hanging on the line. She was an exceptional homemaker and took great pride in her skills of ironing, cleaning and we can all attest that there wasn't a stain she couldn't remove. She loved listening to music, reading and drinking hot, black coffee. Mom loved to decorate her home for all occasions, with her favourite being Christmas. There wasn't one inch of space in any room that didn't have some touch of the holiday on display. Her famous baking, red cabbage and antipasto were legendary. She was a long standing member of the Danish Club at the Scandinavian Centre, where she made many friendships and loved hearing her name pronounced correctly. Mom was proud of her Danish heritage and spent numerous hours volunteering at Folklorama at both the Scandinavian and Emerald Isle pavilions. In accordance with Greta's wishes, a private family interment will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Park Manor Personal Care Home for their love and support of Greta. Until We Meet Again "jeg elsker dig" Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • I enjoyed having her as a client, she always made the day pleasant. She was a kind lady and it saddened me when they took her off my schedule. Before her passing I was actually able to see her a couple of more times while she had received home care. It is was a sad day when I saw her obituary posted. May she rest in peace. My condolences to all who knew her. - Posted by: Audra Rosentreter (Homecare worker) on: Sep 18, 2018
