RODERICK THOMAS ALLAN
Date of Passing: Sep 13, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRODERICK THOMAS ALLAN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Rod Allan. Rod passed away peacefully on September 13, 2018 at the age of 67. He will be dearly missed by his wife Mary Anne, stepdaughter Lisa (Todd Lange), and his two cherished grandsons, Cole (Janeen) and Brandon. Rod was born in Winnipeg and raised in the Elmwood area. He was a long distance truck driver for most of his working career. Travelling was always a passion of his and his career allowed him to see most of Canada and the USA. His family will take comfort in the memories of family vacations to Disneyland, Mexico, Jamaica, and numerous Caribbean cruises. Rod loved to gather with family and friends and was the happiest when hosting dinners at home or gatherings at Lisa and Todd's house. Lisa was always a diamond in Rod's eyes and he put her on a pedestal. He loved her as his daughter and was extremely proud of all she has accomplished. Rod loved his son-in-law Todd as his son and took the opportunity for coffee whenever possible. However, there were no two people more loved than his grandsons, Cole and Brandon. They meant everything to Rod and he was so proud of the fine young men they have become. They have evolved from calling him "Papa Big Truck" to "Papa" to "G-pa". Rod's wish for them was to always be kind and to live life to the fullest. Rod will also be dearly missed by his siblings, Robert (Vivian), Gary (Betty) and Patricia (Paul Ducharme). All of Rod's siblings, family, in-laws, nieces and nephews had a special place in his heart and he loved them unconditionally. Robert and Rod contacted each other daily to share jokes, antidotes, and "Odie" stories. Thank you Robert for being the best oldest brother a man could ask for. Gary was not only a brother, but he was Rod's best friend. Gary and Betty were our travelling partners and we enjoyed numerous trips to North Dakota, Minnesota, Las Vegas and Palm Springs. Thank you Gary for always being there for Rod, and bringing so much joy into our life. Patricia, you will always be "Fish Hook" to Rod. You were always the cherished little sister that he loved to tease and be proud of all at the same time. Never forget that he was someone that loved you dearly as only a big brother can. In honouring Rod's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. Rod would not want any tears and would only like to be remembered with a smile. To his many good friends, he asked that when you are ready to raise your glass and toast your friendship and your cherished memories. My dear Rod, I am full of the love we shared for 38 years and my heart is broken to continue this life alone. I loved you then, love you still, always have, and always will. You will continue to live in the lives you touched and in our memories forever. Watch over us our angel and rest in peace.
