Born: Jul 02, 1938
Date of Passing: Sep 25, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySELMA MARGARET (EPP) KROEGER July 2, 1938 - September 25, 2018 After bravely facing her illness, our dear mom transitioned on September 25 at the age of 80, surrounded by her daughters. Lovingly remembered by her children, Sandra, Angela and Jodi (Rick), grandchildren, Jaymie, Carly, Brendan, Zac, Lauren, Jesse and Ty, beloved sisters, brothers, family members and special friends. Selma was predeceased by her devoted husband Henry. Selma was born July 2, 1938 on a farm in Whitewater, Manitoba to Bernhard and Gertrude Epp, the youngest daughter in a family of four boys and four girls. When Selma was 12, her family moved to Boissevain, where she lived and went to school until moving to Winnipeg at the age of 17, inspired to enter nurses training. She graduated Class of 1959 at Health Sciences Centre and the special friendships made with her classmates were treasured throughout her life. Our mom embraced her career during her 20s. From her graduation until her wedding in 1966, she practiced nursing in Winnipeg, London (England), Boissevain, and later, a fun year with her close friend in Vancouver before returning to work in Winnipeg. Mom and Dad were married January 1966, and late November of that year their family life began, surrounded by wonderful neighbours and close friends. Selma loved to laugh, sing, dance, sew, crochet, bake, garden, curl, golf, gather with family, and thoroughly enjoyed all her circles of friends. She appreciated nature and always noticed the beauty of flowers, trees and plants wherever she went. The community at First Mennonite Church was very important to Mom. She sang in the Occasional Choir and was a member of Tabitha women's circle, which nurtured her heart and soul, and desire to be of service. Mom's life centered around her children and grandchildren, and we were never short on warm hugs, freshly baked treats, or encouraging words. She celebrated all our milestones, was there for us with big joy and taught us so much about love. Mom overflowed with gratitude for the support and connection with family and friends during her illness. We deeply thank everyone, including the attentive staff at Riverview. Our hearts feel broken to let her go, but we will forever cherish the memories and love she gave so willingly. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. with a reception to follow. A private interment will take place at a later date. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Dear Sandra, Angela and Jody - my heart broke when I received Mom's call earlier this week telling me of your Mom's passing. Your Mom always made such a positive impression on me - she lived her life with class and quiet dignity and always treated everyone around her with love and respect. We rarely saw each other in recent years, yet that didn't seem to change the way she greeted me when I saw her in Church or elsewhere. I hope that knowing how much she was loved by so many people will bring some comfort to each of you. Take care. Donna - Posted by: Donna Janovcik (Unruh) (Family friend) on: Sep 28, 2018
