THELMA MAE STENHOUSE (nee MCGREGOR) October 31, 1926 - September 14, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Thelma Stenhouse on September 14, 2018 at the age of 92. Thelma completed her nursing education at the Misericordia Hospital, graduating in 1947 and lived in Winnipeg since that time. She met and married her love ("saucy sailor") James Andrew Stenhouse (deceased) and raised two sons, Jim and Gordon, in St.Vital. Thelma was a woman who loved and took great pride in welcoming family, friends and visitors to her home. Our family will always remember her generous and gracious nature. Thelma will be dearly missed by her sons, Jim (Janet) and Gordon (Karen). Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Eileen Roberts and Eleanor Frend; and was predeceased by her sister Bernice Blackburn. Her brother-in-law Gordon Stenhouse and his wife Jerry were lifelong friends and companions who were an important part of her long life. She had many nieces and nephews who were all very important and cherished by her. She had a special spot in her heart for her grandchildren, Eric, Paul, Amy and Leah and until her last conversations with them expressed interest in their lives and was proud of their achievements. Also very dear to her were Steven Cole (Val), great-grandsons, Gabriel and Declan. She loved travelling, golfing, gardening, watching curling and the Jets! The family thanks the staff of River Park Gardens for their kind and compassionate care of Thelma. We will all miss our wonderful mother, grandmother and friend whose caring soul touched many lives and she will never be forgotten. In accordance with Thelma's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Flowers gratefully declined. In recognition of her long time love of animals, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or charity of one's choice in Thelma's name and memory. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Fond memories of both Mr. & Mrs. Stenhouse who lived two houses over on our wonderful street - Westdale Place in St. Vital. Mrs. Stenhouse was always very kind and welcomed everyone to her home for a visit including the children of our street like myself. Condolences to Jim, Gord and families. - Posted by: Murray Sisler (Neighbour) on: Sep 29, 2018

  • Dear Jim & Gord & families: Your Mom and Dad were the best neighbours one could ever have. They both were so kind and generous. They were very proud of both of you and all your accomplishments. I had not seen your Mom for quite some time as I no longer live in Winnipeg but thought of her on many occasions. Again my deepest sympathy to you and your families.
