GENE KARPENIC (nee HUNTER) It gives us great sadness that our loving mother and wife, Gene Marion Karpenic has passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 72 years. Gene is survived by her husband Dave; daughter April (Darren); son Shawn (Neriza); grandchildren, Bradley (Julie), Travis and Katelynn; great-grandchildren, Leon and Colten; sisters, Joan (niece Sharlene, nephew Shane) and Irene (niece Tracy). She was predeceased by her mother Laura Gara and brother Bobby Hunter. For 18 years, Gene worked at Shoppers Drug Mart and 12 years with Sears, retiring at the age of 63. Mom loved country music and Elvis Presley. She spent most of her time in Clear Lake at our family cabin. When she was a teenager she worked at the Wig Wam and spent many summers there with friends. Mom was a very loving and caring person who touched many hearts over the years. A private interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery. A celebration of Gene's Life will be held in the Royal Canadian Legion #4, 1755 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Manitoba Lung Association, 1 Wesley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6.
