MARIETTA LOUISE (BETTY) GARRY (nee STEWART) February 14, 1927 - September 27, 2018 "Betty" will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Left to mourn her loss are brother Robert "Bob", sons, Andy (Carol) and Lawrence (Pat), and grandchildren, Chris (Lisa), Laura (Jay), Jonathan, Alex (Tyler), Sean (Melissa), Jessica and Amber. She was so very proud of her great-grandchildren, Madeline, Cole, Seamus, Zack and Emily. Betty was predeceased by her husband Chris Garry, daughter Sharon Sheldon (Wayne), and sister Eileen (Roger), as well as her parents, Carl William Stewart and Edith Sturman. Betty met the love of her life, Chris, in 1945 at a get together in Fort Whyte. They married soon after in July of 1946. Mom and Dad spent 64 happy years together travelling the world, cruising and camping. In the early years of their marriage Betty worked at the Eaton's mail order every Christmas season, where she gained lifelong friends. Betty was a longtime member in St. Albans Anglican Church, volunteering as often as she could. Her cheery and friendly demeanor created friendships everywhere she went. We wish to thank the staff of the Victoria General Hospital 5th floor for their caring support and compassion. As per her wishes, no formal funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • i remember my Grandma Irene Wilkes, tell me of how very special Mrs. Garry was to her. Mr & Mrs Garry would usually sit behind us at St.Alban's Church. Always extremely friendly and very caring people. I'd always ask my grandma who the pretty lady was in the church, always after the service was over, a low and behold it was Mrs. Garry. She gave out the most loving vibes & was very memorable for me. When i'd see her i'd start to blush. She certainly was one of a kind. i had no idea how much history that she and my Gran had shared. They were really good friends.... so to the family, your Mom was a treasure.. as you know - Posted by: David English (grandma's friend) on: Mar 27, 2020

  • My thoughts and prayers are with all of Betty's family. I will certainly miss her smiling face, friendship and sense of humor. Movie night and Bomber are not the same without her! However I am very glad she is at peace and not suffering anymore. It was a really difficult time for her and all of you. My condolences to all of you.
