Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCURTIS EDWARD WHYTE February 14, 1949 - September 27, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Curtis Whyte in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the age of 69 years. Curtis was born and raised in Victoria Beach, Manitoba, a place very dear to his heart. In his early career he worked in the Alberta Government for the Department of Economic Development, followed by several stellar years in the banking sector. In 1981, Curtis pursued his dream of owning and operating his own business. Curtis, his wife Sheila and partner, Tim Reynolds operated their management consulting business, Whyte Reynolds International for 30 years - a period of outstanding personal accomplishment that filled Curtis with pride. Curtis and Sheila retired in 2012 and were able to pursue their love of travelling. They lived their dreams, travelled to the places they wanted to and recently determined they had accomplished their long-held goals to see what they wanted to see and settled for a life of well-earned warmth; with winters in their new condo in Arizona, and summers in Calgary they could maximize their time with children and grandchildren, while enhancing their opportunities to enjoy golf, springtime baseball camps and Curt's passion for the Stampeders, Flames and friends year round. Curtis passed away feeling himself to be a fortunate man, with no regrets and a pride in the way he carried himself throughout his life. He was an honest, caring, thoughtful and considerate person. The world has lost a good man. He was admired by more people than he knew for his steadfast dedication to his core values, enviable moral code and compassion for all in his midst. He was always the first to lend a helping hand - he will be missed by a far-flung and not insignificant number of admirers. Curtis was the loving husband for 46 years, of Sheila; devoted father to Carrie (Beau) Langevin and Lola Whyte; the doting Poppa to Mathurin and Mika Langevin. He is also survived by his sister Sharon (Walter) Funk and family; brother-in-law Bob Good; foster-sister Bonnie (Irv) Hildebrand and family; brother-in-law Rick (Sandy) Harrison and family; as well as his sister-in-law Julie (Ken) Otto and family. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ellen Whyte as well as his sister Maureen Whyte. The family wishes to thank Dr. Namira Ali Mohamad, Dr. Jackson Wu, Dr. Amane Abdul Razzak, Dr. Lyle Galloway, the wonderful staff on the Unit 47 Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the compassion shown to Curtis by the dedicated and kind staff at the Sarcee Hospice. A celebration of Curtis' life will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen's Park Cemetery), on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Curtis' name directly to the Calgary Health Trust. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca. Having lived at Victoria Beach for years and having spent many visits with Curtis's parents I heard many accolades and stories of their pride and love for Curtis, his family and what he had achieved. His family's visits to VB were always so anticipated, enjoyed and their excitement was barely contained. He was an amazing support to them and to Maureen and Sharon. He will be missed. - Posted by: Lila (Davis) Larson (Contact from Victoria Beach) on: Oct 04, 2018

We are deeply saddened by Curt's passing. It is hard to accept the loss of someone so kind, thoughtful, genuine and loving. We loved him, cherished the many visits at the beach and are forever grateful for the attention he paid to our parents, especially as they grew on in years. Our father, Glen Lester, had a special place in his heart for Curtis and his spirits lifted to great heights whenever he heard that Curtis was "coming to visit". When our Dad passed, Curtis said something that will stay with me forever: "Getting through this will be all the more difficult because there is such love." It didn't feel like it at the time, but what a blessing to know that kind of love! To Sheila, Carrie, Beau, and grandchildren, Lola, Sharon, Wally, Tara and family, please accept our deepest sympathies and know that the love and kindness Curt so unconditionally shared will inspire and endure in you and many others. Sending much love and hugs. - Posted by: Gaye Glowacki & Family (Cousin) on: Oct 02, 2018

I was very sorry to hear Curtis passed away. I will miss Curtis a lot, he was a fine cousin. I remember he used to visit Mom and Dad whenever he was out. They always enjoyed his visits and felt good after they saw him. Often when I was on the ranch I was part of those visits and I got updated on what his family was doing and how they were. As his obituary said he was "a good man". In many ways I feel he was a Great Man. You could see in his eyes the pride he took in his family and the hurt caused by the illness of those he loved and could not save. I feel blessed to have known him and my sympathies, prayers, and condolences go out to his family in this sad time. - Posted by: Glenn Lester (Cousin) on: Oct 01, 2018

I’m so sorry to hear that Curtis has passed. My condolences to his family. I will always remember how kind he was to my dad and mom (his Uncle Lorne Lester & Aunt Anne Lester) over the past number of years. Whenever he was in Manitoba he visited them and when he was not here he phoned regularly. A wonderful man. - Posted by: Louella Lester (cousin) on: Sep 30, 2018
