Date of Passing: Sep 28, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET PATRICIA OLIVER (RUFFESKI) Peacefully on September 28, 2018, Mom passed away at the age of 83 years at the Middlechurch Personal Care Home. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ron (Fran), Michael (Diane), Tracy (Lisa) and Terry along with daughter-in-law Maria. Mom had nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mom is survived by her brother Robert (Deanne), and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Brenda. Mom is predeceased by her father Michael; mother Angela; her husband Robert and sons, Darrell and Richard. Mom was the backbone behind raising her six sons. She worked hard as a legal secretary to provide for her family. In her retirement Mom enjoyed the simpler things in life. She always managed to keep a smile on her face and stay positive. In 2010 Mom suffered a stroke that forever changed her life. Mom subsequently moved into the Middlechurch Home where she made many new friends, including Dolly and Harry who she loved to spend time with. She was a regular at the Village Pump and enjoyed her time socializing. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Middlechurch Home for all the care, compassion and patience provided to our mother. At Mom's request, no funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Sincere sympathy goes out to all the family. I live in Dauphin, my mother Bertha (7th in line of the Ruffeski family) and Janet’s Dad, Michael, (5th in the Ruffeski family) were brother and sister. My Mom married my Dad in 1947 and moved to Ethelbert, Manitoba. I only met Janet once and that was in May of 1966, at Janet’s Dad’s funeral. I was only 12 years old then..... We visited to Winnipeg often, but my Mom mostly visited with her Mom....Baba and sisters Anne, Katie, Mary and Sophie. Those family members I remember very well. Mary’s daughter, Marge called to let me know as she read Janet’s obituary in the paper. Again, my condolences. - Posted by: Judith Gillis (Cousin ) on: Oct 21, 2018

I used to volunteer at the Middlechurch Shop (now defunct) and I would have a nice chat with Janet most days that I was there. She was knowledgeable, kind and a joy to talk with and she loved shopping. Sincere condolences to her family. She was one of a kind. - Posted by: Joyce Urbanietz (Middlechurch Shop) on: Oct 08, 2018

Janet and our Mom, Diana, spent lots of time together in the pub at Middlechurch. Janet had a quick wit and a sharp mind. She was a great addition to the social group there. She will be missed. Our condolences to the whole family. - Posted by: Colleen and Jaye Einarson (Friends from Middlechurch ) on: Oct 07, 2018
