WAYNE CURTIS FIELDS February 3, 1944 - October 2, 2018 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Wayne passed away to be with his Lord, after a long illness, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home in Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 74. He was predeceased by his parents, Ross and Hazel Belle (nee Mathers) Fields, of Saskatoon, SK; parents-in-law, Peter and Gertie Friesen, of Morris, MB; and sister-in-law Myrna Friesen, of Steinbach, MB. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 27 years, Diana; his children, Todd and Lana (Dallas) Wilde; his grandchildren, Tyler, Jared and Sierra; his brother Barry, of Saskatoon, SK; and sisters, Wendy (Don) Stefiuk and Betty (Jim) Pack, of Saskatoon, SK, his many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends and extended family. Wayne was born in Regina, SK and attended elementary school in Penzance, SK and high school in Holdfast, SK. He was the oldest of four siblings. He learned to work hard by helping farmers in the area. He also drove the school bus in Holdfast for many years and where he established his own oil/gas delivery business. Later he moved to Thompson, MB, where he worked for Shell Oil and proudly owned and operated a dump truck before moving to Winnipeg. Here he worked for Natural Resources. Wayne had the warmest heart, was kind, gentle and generous with a flair of humour. He loved to help those in need at the Union Gospel Mission in Winnipeg, where he had his dream job of driving the van. He retired in 2013, after dedicating the last 22 years of his career helping the least, the last, and the lost. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service.
