DONALD GURNEY It is with great sadness that the family of Donald (Don) Charles Gurney announces his passing on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the age of 75 years. He is immediately survived by his brother Wayne Gurney (Diane), and his brother Roy Gurney (Fran) from Manitoba. Don will also be remembered by his son Brian Gurney (Nelia) and his grandchildren, Allyson and Clara from Saskatchewan; and his son Michael Gurney (Heather) and his granddaughter Ella from California. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Don worked in pharmaceutical sales and eventually, after migrating west to Saskatoon and Calgary, he became actively involved in downhill skiing. Don was passionate about downhill skiing and was deeply involved in many aspects of the sport. He earned status as a Level 2 instructor and it was with this he was able to share his passion for the sport. For well over 20 years Don instructed and coached many new aspiring skiers as well as developed more advanced level skiers through the Flatland Freestyle Ski Team and as a ski instructor at Blackstrap and Table Mountain. At the request of Don a memorial service will be held in the New Year in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

We were close friend many years ago. I still remember Don rebuilding a 6 cylinder motor in his Mom basement. Wayne and Fred Haddad and someone else or two, getting it up those stairs. What a job! Also starting his first job with Dad's Cookies. Sincerest condolence to his Family. Gordon Lewis - Posted by: Gordon Lewis (high school friend) on: Oct 23, 2018

Sincerest condolences to the Gurney family at the passing of Don from the Stimson family; Harry (Margaret), son Tom (Dana) & grandson Beau. Don & I were cousins & good friends until our careers & geography took us along different paths. My parents, Uncle Tommy & Aunty Sis as they were affectionately known to all the kids always had a soft spot in their hearts for Don. If there is a memorial service in Winnipeg in the new year we would appreciate being informed. - Posted by: Harry Stimson (Cousin and childhood friend) on: Oct 10, 2018
