Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

Ray was always the first to help out or to give a hand, a lift, a gift of generosity, a joke or a hint to help out or diminish tensions in certain situations! We were fortunate to know him and Trish ! Some obscur cousin from out east who came once in a while to acknowledge or rediscover family roots on the Frey side... Lord, we were so well received and entertained by both of them! As if we were real close family members even if we were from “Far East” and rarely on the Winnepeg scene... Trish and family, all our love, thoughts and prayers! Claudette, un GROS SALUT et des pensées qui transcendent les distances, le temps et les croyances! On vous embrasse fort! - Posted by: CLaude Brunet (Cousin ) on: Dec 18, 2020

  • I met Ray back in 1966/67 when he came to McCreary to ski at Mt. Agassiz. He became friends with all of our group who skied there at the time. Ray was like our social convenor, always coming up with downhill ski trips or water skiing outings. One ski trip to Frost Fire resort almost ended in disaster when we ran into the back of a truck during a snow storm and wrecked Ray's convertible car! Fortunately no one was hurt and we still laugh about it when we look at the picture of Ray and Gerald driving the car back to Winnipeg without a windshield or roof top to protect them from the frigid cold.I lost touch with Ray but I know that he lived a good life and was blessed with many friends and loved ones.He will be missed. - Posted by: Barbara Francois (friend) on: Oct 16, 2018

  • Ray was a good friend and was always available to talk with as a councilor or a friend. Met Ray in Sobeys in Birds Hill in June this past summer and we had a long chat and talked about old times. Will always remember that. Our Sincere Condolences, Jim & Betty Ritchie - Posted by: Jim and Betty Ritchie (Friend) on: Oct 06, 2018

  • I'm going to miss that laugh. My first memories of Ray are from around age 5. Ray worked on vehicles at Texaco, Bruno Brothers on Speers Road, just down the road from my Grandparents. My Uncle, a friend of Rays, bought me my first car... a red Maverick that Ray had fixed up. As Ray moved on to Packers Auto Body and out onto North Henderson, I remember visiting and helping do small jobs on his new home build. I always wondered how was he going to cut all that grass. We played hockey together for a number of years out of Transcona. Great fun, always a laugh in the dressing room and afterwards. He was fast. I moved away and we lost touch for a few years until 8 years ago. Running into Ray at AMM was like running into a lost brother. Rest easy my Friend... drive the heck out of all those convertibles up top! - Posted by: Jeffrey Goethals (Life long friend) on: Oct 06, 2018
