GERDA HOFMANN It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Gerda Hofmann on October 2, 2018, at Tudor Manor, Okotoks Alberta, at the age of 77 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Klaus Hofmann. Remaining to cherish Gerda's memory are her son Peter, daughter Meike, and son Glen. As well as many grandchildren, her brother Alfred, sister Huchian, along with many nieces and nephews. Gerda was born August 10, 1941 in Huckeswagen, Germany to Alfred and Elfriede Becker. She chose a career path in Butchery that lead to meeting the love of her life Klaus Hofmann. They married in February, 1961 in Wuppterntual, Germany. They welcomed two children, Peter and Meike. In 1967, they immigrated to Canada to follow Klaus's sister Marianne and her husband Eric to Atikokan, Ontario. They moved to Winnipeg in 1968, where shortly after they welcomed their third child Glen. Gerda was an integral part of Klaus's painting business, which they successfully ran until his passing in 1989. Shortly afterwards Gerda moved to Calgary, where she worked in a German delicatessen cooking and preparing traditional German dishes. Gerda retired in 2007. Gerda enjoyed cooking, gardening, Forrester's social club and bingo. Funeral service will be held on October 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen lawn Memorial Gardens at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB, with Marianne Propp presiding. Viewing will take place just before at 1:30 p.m. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Tudor Manor in Canterbury Two for the kindness and compassion in care.
