ROSALIA (ROSE) ANNE SHULHA (nee DZIEDZIC) Peacefully, on October 16, 2018, surrounded by family, Rose went to be with her Lord. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her son Alex (Diana), grandchildren, Samantha (Praneeth) and Jerret Shulha and girlfriend Susan; daughter Linda (Ian), grandchildren, Travis (Whitney), Kelsey, and great-grandson Machray Ward; daughter Brenda (Ross), grandchildren, Jeremy, Matthew and Lindsay Grieve. As well, Rose leaves behind two sisters, three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Maggie Dziedzic, as well as her husband John, four sisters and nine brothers. Rose was also predeceased by Ted Douglas - a very special friend for over 30 years. Rose was born on June 24, 1934 in Armstrong Municipality, Manitoba. She married John on September 8, 1956. They moved to Edmonton, where Alex was born, and returned to Winnipeg in 1958. Rose was a stay at home mom until her husband's sudden passing in 1969. Soon after, Rose began working at Empire Spice Mills, where she continued to work until the age of 74. Throughout her life, Rose brought unmeasurable joy to both family and friends. Rose was always eager to learn and broaden her views. She was an avid reader and followed the news daily. Rose will be remembered for her generosity of time, creative gifts, and welcoming home. She loved gardening and would lend a hand in other people's gardens as well. Rose managed to make anything she had on hand into a great meal. Her cooking, canning and baking were legendary. The quantity and quality of borscht, perogies, and other delicious foods was inspiring. She was always willing to try a new recipe, cooking method or gadget. Rose shared what she had and would do without so her children had what they needed. Rose's faith was vital to her life, she loved Mass and never missed until she could no longer physically attend. She was part of the Ukrainian Women's league and very involved in Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. As a single income earner, she still managed to travel with her children to visit family. Her children went to Catechism, and took part in Ukrainian school, camp, choir and dancing. Mom loved her children and grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Her children treasure all that they learned from her. Hold your head high, do your best, never apologize for trying. They will miss her advice, sharing stories, and laughing with her. Mom did not mince words and spoke her truth, she was a strong, independent woman. Mom embraced life; she was a wonderful and giving mother. Her grandchildren from very young, knew it would be a grand time when spending time with Baba; sleepovers, playing in her garden, special toys in her house and favourite treats chosen for them individually. Baba could be counted on to try new cuisines and was always up for a lunch date. She created costumes, went on school field trips, attended dance recitals and sporting events. Baba made each grandchild feel special in her own way. It is challenging to put into words or measure the true impact she had on their lives. Rose will be interred at All Saints Cemetery where she will be next to her late husband John after 49 years. Our family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for the care, respect, and time they spent making Rose comfortable.
