HARRY NORMAN MORTIMER April 26, 1941 - October 22, 2018 It is with great sadness the family of Harry announces the passing of their dear husband, father and grandfather, on October 22, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by his wife Cecilia; children, Todd (Susan), Kim, Greg (Debbie); grandchildren, Logan, Jackson, Duncan, Alicia, Brock, Luke and Dean; two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister. Harry was employed with Manitoba Telephone System for 32 years in many positions. He kept himself involved with the company volunteering as a researcher, collector and classifier of telephone artifacts of historical value to Manitoba Telephone System. His love of telephones made him a private collector and repairer or adaptor of phones for others. Harry's interest was historical; with volunteering at the Dugald Costume Museum when in Dugald, MB.; then with RM of Springfield Archives. Restoring older vehicles was another passion of his which he shared with like-minded people of the Manitoba Classic and Antique Auto Club. Harry was also very involved in his church, Prince of Peace Lutheran. His love of wood showed in many projects from model vehicles to carvings to wooden pens. He was never one to slow down much, except for one month each winter to go South with the snowbirds. A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Those who so desire may make memorial donations to Cancercare Manitoba Foundation or the Liver Foundation of Canada. I'm saddened to hear of Harry's passing. I had been in email correspondence with him over the past 5 years or so, asking him about the museum and if he could line up a visit for my kids and I. I'm a contractor for the phone company and have developed quite an interest in old phones and the history of the network. I don't know the status of the museum, but hopefully it hasn't gone away. Sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Jesse Grywacheski (Acquaintance) on: Nov 01, 2018

I met Harry and Cecilia many years ago, when they joined the Manitoba Classic and Antique Automobile Club. Over the years we became good friends. Harry was always an easy going guy, and would help anybody with anything. He was one of the "Good Guys" in the car club, and will be missed very much by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Harry. - Posted by: Paul Horch (Friend) on: Oct 25, 2018

Our condolences. Harry was always such outgoing person and very friendly. Our connection to the caretaker of the history of MTS is gone and will never replaced by anyone that matches Harry's work. A nice guy - Posted by: Bob Bull & Judy Wakeford (Friends and co-workers) on: Oct 25, 2018
