Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA ISABEL BEATTY It is with heavy hearts that we announce Edna's passing on October 15, 2018, at the Lion's Care Home, at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her father William Beatty and mother Elisa Beatty (McKenzie); brother Harold Beatty (Lois); sister Viola Steggles (Robert). She will be deeply missed by her sister Alma Carrabre (Thomas), many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Edna was born in Carlyle, Saskatchewan on January 27, 1924. She moved to Winnipeg at an early age and started her career as a bookkeeper at Great-West Saddlery. She later secured a position at the Health Sciences Centre on Sherbrook, and retired in 1989. Edna loved to square dance, bowl and travel. But, spending time with friends and family was always her favourite thing to do. Edna spent her final years on the second floor of Lion's Care Home, the family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and loving care she received there. A special thanks is given to Helen Taupe, a companion who spent many hours providing comfort to Edna. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

I remember visiting Grandma Beatty and Auntie Edna when I was just little. Their place was so different from ours (which was more or less childproofed from two rambunctious boys). As I grew up we would look forward to visits at the cottage (and home too). Having them all around are some of my fondest memories as a young person. Auntie Edna was usually quiet, but enjoyed a good joke (and a football game on TV) and had one of the healthiest appetites! I remember one time at the cabin when a neighbour came running down the road with a small bear chasing after him. Auntie just took it in stride. She got up off her lounger and calmly came into the house. In her last years my Dad (Tommy) often visited her, usually with a chocolate bar treat, which she loved. I was only able to go once with him, but it was great to see how well she was taken care of. - Posted by: Pat Carrabre (Nephew ) on: Nov 12, 2018

I was privileged to be a flower girl for Uncle Bob and Auntie Vi's wedding where Edna was a bridesmaid. I still have the photo of the wedding party at the reception of my grandparents home on HOME Street. Rest in peace, Edna. It was my privilege to be auntie's travel buddy in my younger years. I was always happy to travel with Edna to uncle Jack's farm, auntie Alma's cottage or the Currie farm in Thornhill. One bus trip to Carlyle was particularly memorable. When the bus pulled over at a rest stop auntie got off to get me a snack at the restaurant. I quickly became impatient and got off the bus to look for her. The problem was I decided to leave through the "Emergency Door". The driver was not amused, but auntie's only concern was that I was okay. Auntie was always a quiet caring lady, except when she was watching a Saskatchewan football game, then it could get quite loud. Love you always auntie. - Posted by: Bill Steggles (Nephew) on: Nov 04, 2018

Auntie Edna, my story to you is what I remember most as a young girl coming to see you in Winnipeg. Auntie you always had treats for us and a wonderful smile. Taking Brian and I to the pool by your apartment, you were always so kind. I will think of all the memories we have had years ago. God bless you. - Posted by: Trudy Hektner( Beatty) (Niece ) on: Oct 27, 2018
