BRIAN WARBANSKI 1950 - 2018 Suddenly, at his home in Ottawa, Brian passed away at the young age of 67. Brian leaves to mourn his wife Gail, son Michael (Danielle), his sister Wendy (Ron) and his brothers, Rick (Bev), Greg (Daisy), Joseph (Barbara) and Michael. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Harry (Marty) and Hildur Warbanski. Brian's first years were on the family farm near Dufrost, Manitoba. In 1958 the family relocated to East Kildonan (Morse Place) where Brian attended school at Salisbury, Morse Place Junior High and Miles MacDonnell. Brian later attended the Universities of Winnipeg and Manitoba graduating with a Masters Degree in Economics. Work eventually drew Brian to Ottawa where he spent his career in the Federal Civil Service retiring from Natural Resources Canada in 2013. Brian was an avid and talented hockey player who gained his skating and hockey skills on the pond at the family farm and on the outdoor rinks in Winnipeg. He had a wicked slap-shot from the point. He is well remembered by those who played in the many "pick up" leagues he convened and played in back home and in Ottawa throughout the decades. At the time of his death Brian was still playing three or four times a week. Brian's interests were varied ranging from sports, music, stamp and coin collecting, history, politics and of course economics. Growing up the son of Red River Valley farmers, Brian possessed a profound appreciation for the beauty of his native prairies as well as the beautiful landscapes in Ontario and Quebec near his home. A celebration of Brian's life took place earlier this fall in Ottawa.
