LAWRENCE GEORGE MCCAUSLAND It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away after a stroke on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Lawrence will be deeply missed by his two children, Ian McCausland (Lynda) and Tracy Bijl (Rod); grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Liam; sisters, Frances and Joan; brothers, Doug and Gordon (Carole); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and his best four-legged friend Charlie. He was predeceased by his father Harry and mother Ethel. On May 6, 1935 Lawrence was born and raised on the family farm in the Fairburn District at Boissevain, Manitoba. Through his life on the farm and his activity in 4H programs, he learned the importance of strong family commitments that he carried throughout his life. He was married on July 5, 1958 to Joyce Eleanor McKnight in Boissevain, Manitoba and they were married for 55 years until Joyce was taken by cancer in 2013. In June, 1965 they moved to Winnipeg where Lawrence continued his education at Red River Community College and became an electrician. On top of a long career as an electrician he took an active part in the community by leading Cubs and Scouts as well as running the junior curling program at Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club. Lawrence was an active member of the Crestview United Church assisting with many church functions. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends at Morden's Meadows. Of the many hats he owned and wore the one that brought him the most joy was being a grandfather. He could always be counted on to attend the many activities his grandchildren were involved in. Lawrence will be remembered and loved by many people for his commitment to family, community and strength of spirit. A celebration of Lawrence's life will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Avenue, with a reception at the church to follow. The family would like to thank longtime neighbours, Marty and Pat Pelletier and Jack and Pat Robson as well as Scott Wichenko for their kindness and friendship shown toward Dad over these last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of Lawrence McCausland to Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 2H5. I’m very sorry to hear of your loss. Glenn and I were across the street at Mordens Meadows for many years and enjoyed many evenings around the fire with both your mom and dad. My thoughts are with you. Jenny - Posted by: Jenny Billey (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2018

Lawrence was an uncle of my wife Laura who passed 8 years ago. I remember him as a quiet, gentle man always with a smile on his face. Laura was fond of him and went to visit them in Morden Meadows. My sympathy to Lawrence's family. He will be missed by many who had the good fortune to have known him. Rest well. - Posted by: Jack Reay (Friend and neighbour) on: Nov 24, 2018
