Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD JOSEPH PAPAS With hearts full of love and heavy sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband and father on November 19, 2018. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Maxine Sonja, affectionately referred to as "my sweetheart"; son Dean and daughter-in-law Caroline; sister Jennie; sisters-in-law, Florence, and Shirley (John); brother-in-law Ron; Godchildren, Robb, Tara and Garry; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many treasured friends. Predeceased by his daughter "princess" Dana Lee; his parents, John and Helen; brothers, Thomas and Johnny; sister Louise; parents-in-law, Steve and Mary; brothers-in-law, Peter, Leon, and Paul; sister-in-law Deanna; nephew Greg; and nieces, Lorraine and Shelley. Ed was a humble gentle soul with a quiet demeanor and a wonderful sense of humour. He was a caring man with a strong devotion to his Catholic faith. His life was a beautiful and exceptional gift and we shall always be grateful to God for having shared him with us. Ed's career revolved around the grocery business. He worked at Safeway, Federated Co-op, and Merchants Consolidated and finally retired as GM of Food Fare in 1995. He enjoyed spending time outdoors cultivating his immaculate yard and garden as well as his never ending pursuit to master his golf game. Many days were spent playing cards with family, friends, food and laughter. Ed and Maxine enjoyed travelling throughout their 50 years of marriage, especially getting away to their winter home in Arizona for the past 17 years. Our sincere thank you to all the wonderful staff at River Park Gardens for their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Sonja, Dean & Caroline, my most deepest condolences to your entire family. May my prayers give you strength to overcome these difficult times, and guide Edward to be reunited with his loved ones in Heaven. I had the pleasure and blessing to work with Edward and Sonja for about 8 years now. The relationship we established was more than just business focused. It is a friendship that is very endearing. You and Edward were only seasonal visitors, but I always looked forward to your arrival to AZ. Though my words will not change the sadness in our hearts, but hopefully, my prayers will support you all and the family during this time. May Edward rest in peace. Truly yours, Angie - Posted by: Angelina Zarate (Insurance agent/Friend) on: Jan 08, 2019

We enjoyed Ed the winters that we were neighbors in AZ. We often teased about winning at Bingo. We hope Maxine will be able to spend some time in the sun. - Posted by: Bob and Sharon Anderson (AZ friends) on: Nov 25, 2018

In the 1970s the Papas family were my next door neighbours. Although many years have passed since I left, I have many fond memories of our time as neighbours, celebrating the birth of our children, watching them grow and enjoying having such a fine family next door. My deepest condolences to Maxine and Dean and family on the loss of a true gentleman. His smile and sense of humour will live on in my memory. - Posted by: David Kerr (Neighbour on Woodbury) on: Nov 23, 2018

Maxine and family, I was so saddened to read of Ed's passing in today's paper. It was a beautiful obituary and captured Ed's personality to a T. His passing will leave a huge void in your life but enjoy your happy memories - I'm sure there are so many.
