Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD DAVID BEATTY POFF, C.A. March 28, 1918 - November 11, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald (Jerry) in his 100th year. He is predeceased by his father John Albert, mother Effie May, wife Alma Edith, sister Muriel, brother Keith and son John Edgar. He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Lorna) and James (Lisa) and daughter-in-law Joyce along with his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Born in Pembroke, Ontario, he joined the R.C.A.F. in 1939 and was trained as a wireless operator. He was sent to England and was assigned to the Ninth Bomber Squadron of the R.A.F. After finishing his tour of duty, he was sent to MacGregor, Manitoba to train new wireless operators. There he met and married Alma and they spent their entire lives in Winnipeg and raised three sons. After the Second World War, Jerry studied to become an accountant and received his CPA designation. He spent most of his career at General Distributors Ltd. and was the Vice President of Finance upon his retirement. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cottage with family and friends. His interests included gardening with his wife Alma, reading and stamp collecting. He always watched the news and kept up with current events. Jerry also enjoyed wine-making with his son John, as well as travelling and visiting his sons, Tom and Jim, and their families. We are grateful to the many caregivers, especially Barb, Leona, Sonia, Arlene and Tony, who provided great care to Jerry over the past several years. With their support, we were pleased to celebrate Jerry's 100th birthday with family and friends last March. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry to hear about your Father leaving us, but his memories live on in the stories he shared with us. His cane with the sword and his guitar and poems all have a place in my heart, because of the meaning they held to him. What a marvelous Man in the canvas airplane and dance moves... Rest in peace my dear friend and thank you for serving our country and yourself with me. - Posted by: James and joan (Home cleaning) on: Jan 01, 2019

He hired me and I am so grateful. He was so professional and lived to a strict moral conduct. This was at General Dist. A few years ago I got in contact with him and we had a nice conversation about the times there. Hev was still "sharp" and it was so nice talking with him. I am glad I reached out. A true gentle fellow. - Posted by: Marilyn Pantermoller (employee) on: Dec 01, 2018
