ADOLFO (RUDY) MENDOZA June 17, 1949 - December 1, 2018 In loving memory of Rudy Mendoza who passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 69, surrounded by his wife and two daughters. Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Severo and Martha, and his sister Maria. He was born in Luna, La Union, Philippines and completed his degree in Electronic Engineering at FEATI University in Manila. Rudy met his wife Ludi in Manila after high school, but they did not reconnect until nearly 10 years later and were married on April 22, 1977. Rudy immigrated to Canada in 1977, and later sponsored his wife and daughter, Chris in 1980. In Winnipeg, he worked as an independent electronic repairman where he serviced video arcade games in the city and surrounding areas. Rudy donated his time to helping out friends and family who needed anything fixed. In 1985 Rudy began his career at Boeing as a CNC Operator, where he remained for 32 years and retired in January 2017. Anyone who knew Rudy well could attest to his love of golf and karaoke. He was a member of the Pinoy Golf Club and participated in many tournaments throughout the golf season. Golf was such a big part of his life that prior to retiring he would get up before work to play a round and also set up a putting green in the backyard, which he manicured by hand. His favourite vacation spot was their condo on a golf course in the Philippines, which they visited every winter. He will be deeply missed by his wife Ludivina, his two daughters, Chris (Steven) and Marion (Daniel), and grandchildren, Elliott, Emelia, Nathan and Lucas. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Felipa, Julio, Paulina, Martina, Florencia, Marciano and Francisca. Lamay (visitation) will be held on Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to Nurse Practitioner Parusia Purohit for providing support and guidance during the early stages of his diagnosis. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mathew Holigrowski and the staff in the Radiation Therapy Department at CancerCare Manitoba for making Rudy feel at ease and as comfortable as possible. To Dr. Anthony Battad, Nurse Nicole J. and the staff on 5E at St. Boniface Hospital, your kindness and compassion knows no bounds and the family will be forever grateful. If people wish to honour his memory, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room 0N1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Mendoza or as I called him Lolo in the late summer of 2018. He was a man of few words, whose positive energy filled the room. Lolo was never demanding and he was always grateful for anything that you did for him. Two things that always made him smile was golfing and his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer who would always be on the course independent of the weather conditions. Lolo respected the golf game of Tiger Woods and like Tiger wood's quote " there is no sense of going to a tournament if you don't believe that you can win it". Lolo brought his best game to beat his cancer. After much courage and will, he lost that tournament. But he did win the tournament of life, he was a hard worker, a dedicated father and grandfather, and loyal friend to those that knew him. I will miss you Lolo. Your smile will always be in my heart. - Posted by: Parusia (Family Friend) on: Dec 10, 2018
