JEANNE C. POTTER (KOOIMAN) October 28, 1928 - December 11, 2018 Mom passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital at the age of 90 years. Born in the town of Enkhuizen in the Netherlands, Mom lived in difficult times, through an era of economic instability and war in which Holland was occupied by German forces. She married John, left her family and immigrated to Canada in 1952, which showed great courage. She raised five children in a very busy household and also managed to fit in sewing, knitting, crocheting and petit point. She loved going to the lake in the summers and invited the whole family as well as friends down on the weekends. She was a dedicated WinRho lady, meaning that she was able to donate antibodies to treat Rh incompatibility between mothers and children during pregnancies. She is survived by her husband John, her children, Dick (Gladys), Jeannet (Glen), Betty, John (Kat) and Robert (Jennifer), six grandkids and four great-grandkids. She has one surviving brother Pete (Nell) who still lives in Holland. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg, MB with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Thank you to the staff at the Grace Hospital for their care and treatment during her time at the hospital. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • It was always a pleasure to hear Jean talk about her life in Holland and how she made the move to Canada. I will always fondly remember the time we were able to share at the cabin in Lac du Bonnet, and her wonderful chocolate chip cookies. - Posted by: Kathleen Muirhead (Daughter-in-Law) on: Dec 16, 2018

  • My condolences to the Potter family. It was not that long ago Jeanne and John were at my mother’s funeral. Thinking of you Betty. From one of the Arden Avenue gang. - Posted by: Michael Gros (Arden Avenue Neighbour) on: Dec 15, 2018
