MICHAEL NAWOLSKY
Born: Nov 07, 1936
Date of Passing: Dec 05, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL NAWOLSKY November 7, 1936 - December 5, 2018 With heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved husband and father, Michael (Mike) Nawolsky, on December 5, 2018. Mike was born in Stuartburn, MB on November 7, 1936. He grew up on the family farm in Stuartburn and moved to Winnipeg in 1956 to pursue a career with the federal government from which he retired in 1989. Mike married Jenny in 1960 and together they raised their sons, Kenneth (Ken) and Robert (Bob), with love and a strong focus on family above all else. He was a genuinely caring and outgoing man who instantly formed a connection with all he met. Never one to sit idle and extremely active until his untimely passing, he always went out of his way to volunteer his time to the church (notably, St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg and Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in Plankey Plains, MB) or lend an extra set of hands to friends and family wherever needed. Throughout his life, whether on the family farm, at home in Winnipeg, or at the cottage, Mike never strayed far from his love of nature. His "pet" chipmunks and Gray Jays at the cottage were drawn to him like a magnet and instinctively knew they could count on him for a feast. He was a proud and passionate gardener known for an immaculate yard and prize-winning tomato and pepper plants, who also knew his way around in the kitchen. He instilled these same passions in his sons. He was notoriously hard working and, to "relax", he would frequently go for long walks. As the solid and dependable rock of his family, Mike knew no bounds in supporting and doting on his loving wife of 58 years. It is with a profound sense of sorrow and loss that the tight Nawolsky family unit will move forward to honour the memory of their husband and father. We love you, miss you deeply, and will hold you forever dear to our hearts. Mike was predeceased by his father Wolodymyr (William) in 1968; mother Annie (nee Horbul) in 1991; and sister Jean (Repeta) in 2012. He is survived by his wife Jenny; two sons, Ken and Bob; and sister Mary-Ann Orlins; as well as many nieces and nephews. At Mike's request, a private family service has taken place to celebrate his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of one's choice.
