Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryZELDA RUTH WRIGHT (MAGUIRE) Zelda, aged 95, passed peacefully in her sleep on December 13, 2018 at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. She was born at home in Elgin, Manitoba on February 16, 1923, the first born of parents, Loftus and Ellen Maguire. Zelda was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Walter, and brothers, Roy, Cliff and Ken. She is survived by brother Harold (Dianne) of Elgin, children, Valerie (Charles), Janice (Don) and Daryl (Anne), nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She married Walter Wright in 1946 and together they made a life living in Brandon, Durban, and finally settling in Winnipeg. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church taking part in ACW and Quilting Groups, and for many years the leader of the Thelma Wynne project which collected and made items for newborns. These layettes continue to be distributed to agencies that support young families. After Walter's retirement, they purchased a cottage at Petersfield. Together they spent many peaceful days there often joined by family and friends. It was a place grandchildren gathered together for many adventures with their grandparents. Grandma always had coffee and a meal ready for all at a moment's notice. She enjoyed crafting and sold her crafts in stores in Winnipeg and Gimli especially beeswax candles under the name Zelda's Creations. An excellent seamstress, she made clothes for her children. She created designs for customers including a wedding dress for her niece. She enjoyed painting, often wildlife scenes including the birds that visited her feeder at the lake. She worked at various jobs, but family life was always central. Family near and far never missed an opportunity to be with her. A memorial service will be held January 5, 2019 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 830 North Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0A6, at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to express their gratitude to St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their compassionate care given to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Thelma Wynne Project at 641 St. Matthews Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 0G6 or St. Paul's Anglican Church, Thelma Wynne Project at the above address.
