Date of Passing: Jan 04, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH DUMONTET R.N., B.A. It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Elizabeth Dumontet, on the morning of Friday, January 4, 2019 at Park Manor Care Home. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her sisters, Flora and Lorraine. Elizabeth was dearly loved by her husband, Norman; her children, Doug, Don, Chris (Barb) and Monique (Amir); her grandchildren, Michael (Julie), Rebecka, Blake, Ashley, Tyler, Jared; and her great-grandchildren, Braxten and Zachary. She will also be missed by her sister Earla, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Elizabeth was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on November 13, 1938, daughter of Dwight and Amy Dahlgren, and younger sister of Lorraine, Earla and Flora. After graduation from high school, she moved to Winnipeg and entered Nurses Training at the Winnipeg General Hospital, graduating in 1959. Her work-life included nursing at St. Boniface Hospital and the AFM. Elizabeth married Norm in 1961, and they were happily married for 57 years. They and their four children lived mostly in Transcona. She was the best mom ever - loving, patient, and supportive. She was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish community, including as a choir member for many years. She enjoyed singing, reading, knitting, baking, creative writing, and playing games with family and friends. Liz was a lot of fun. Her playful spirit will be acutely missed. Elizabeth had a keen intellect and a life-long love of learning. She studied at the University of Manitoba, majoring in English Literature and minoring in Catholic Studies, and graduated with a B.A. at the age of 75, in 2013. She and her family were very proud of her academic successes. West Hawk Lake, Manitoba was a special place for Liz, where she enjoyed walks, swimming, and sun on the dock. Elizabeth also enjoyed travelling, including trips to Kelowna, Florida, Cuba, and Germany. She even travelled to Italy for credit towards her B.A. at the University of Manitoba. Elizabeth's family and friends mourn her passing and will miss her; yet each carries special memories of Elizabeth's love, kindness, generosity, intelligence and humour. Elizabeth spent the last year of her life at Park Manor Care Home in Transcona. The family is very grateful for the professional, compassionate, and thoughtful care she received there. The family would also like to thank Doctors Kevin Coates and Kevin Grace. A Memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke St., Winnipeg, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019. As per Elizabeth's wishes, her body has been contributed to the University of Manitoba for the advancement of medicine through anatomical study. If you wish to make a donation in Elizabeth's memory, please consider the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Mr. Dumontet, Monique and family, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Dumontet. She was such a kind, sweet, fun witty and overall wonderful person. I have a lifetime of memories of your lovely wife and mother, from all the fun letter parties and corn roasts to the normal day to day lake life run ins. I would eagerly look for the smiling faces and waving from Mrs. Dumontet and family as I rode past your dock many times. May you find comfort in your memories and knowing we will all be together again one day. Love, Sandra - Posted by: Sandra Matthews (Lake Friend/Neighbour) on: Jan 17, 2019

Knowing and spending time with Liz has been a gift to me for the past 24 years. Her gentle and calming nature helped me when I didn't feel so calm. She and Norm have both been a Voice of Reason to those around them. I hope the memories you have shared, the love and laughter, will help you through this difficult time of loss. All my love, Dee - Posted by: Dee Ford (Friend and lake neighbor) on: Jan 08, 2019

I grew up near the Dumontet's in Transcona, and our families were close. I babysat the boys many times. Aunt Liz was a beautiful person and I will miss her. When my mom, Lorraine, was in her last days in Kenora Hospital, Aunt Liz came and spent the night with her. "Once a night nurse, always a night nurse," she said. I remember the look of joy on my mom's face when she heard that Aunt Liz was staying the night. Uncle Norm, Doug, Don, Chris and Monique, I am so sorry for the loss of your wife and mother. Blessings to all of you. Rick - Posted by: Rick Wedel (Nephew) on: Jan 08, 2019
