Born: Apr 05, 1935
Date of Passing: Jan 18, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH CECIL SINCLAIR It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Sinclair (aged 83) on the evening of Friday, January 18, 2019 at Vista Park Lodge, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ken was predeceased by his brother RCMP Cst. Wayne Sinclair in 1961 and his parents, Cecil and Olga Sinclair. He will be lovingly remembered by Petronella Sinclair, his wife of 42 years, sons, Wayne (Deb), Jim (Victoria) and Mike (Jo) and grandchildren, Erin, Tianna, Alyssa and Brent. Ken will be missed by his sister-in-law Diny (Dick) Slyker and his lifelong friend Al (Lorraine) Charr. Ken was born on April 5, 1935 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1959 he got his certificate in General Accounting and proceeded to enjoy a career working as an accountant for Winnipeg's own Ben Hatskin at Universal Music and later joined Monarch Coin Industries. From there he embarked on a series of entrepreneurial adventures including a coin operations business which took him to all corners of the province. He capped off his employment working at the Centennial Concert Hall where he got to know members of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and shared cigars with Izzy Asper. Ken enjoyed curling, golfing and fishing but his first love was being with his family at the cottage on Lake of the Woods. His favourite times were spent entertaining on the porch overlooking Clearwater Bay, cannonballing off the cliff and enjoying a "very refreshing" morning swim in the frigid springtime waters. Ken was a longtime associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also enjoyed listening to old time music on radio station 93.7 FM. Life challenges made Ken strong-willed. Despite his tough exterior he had a sensitive nature and a great "BS" detector. He will be remembered for his humour, gregarious nature (I'm a people person!) and love of good scotch. Ken could and did talk to anybody. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their compassionate care and for providing Ken the freedom to be himself. Special thanks to Mohammed, Shaili and Irene. As per Ken's wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favourite charity. "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields; and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand". We have just arrived to open up the cottage and now we have learned about the passing of our friend Ken. Valerie has known Ken for 47 years and i’ve Known Ken for 43. We always looked forward to meeting Ken at Clearwater Bay waving and talking to each other from dock to dock. I always enjoyed our times together discussing world affairs over a few Irish Whiskey’s. We’re truly going to miss Ken’s wry sense of humor along with his booming voice. - Posted by: Val & Rob Roberton (Lake Friends) on: May 22, 2019
