FERDINAND TOEWS Ferdinand Toews passed away suddenly, at 85 years of age, on Monday, February 18, 2019 in Abbotsford, BC. Born in Watrous, SK on October 8, 1933 and raised out in the country near Abbotsford, BC, Ferd spent much of his adult life in Winnipeg, MB. After caring for and losing his wife, Wanda Toews (nee Dick), to a long illness, Ferd moved back to BC and lived out his remaining years at Tabor Manor in Abbotsford. There were no children. Ferd was a gentle, friendly, soft spoken person and loved helping others. He had a passion for music and throughout his life served the Lord by singing in and leading choir groups. He loved reading and searching the Holy Scriptures. Ferd was predeceased by his wife Wanda Toews (nee Dick), five older brothers, Isaac, Cornelius, David, Jake and Abe, and three older sisters, Mary Rempel, Helen Giesbrecht and Agatha Toews. He is survived by siblings, Kathy Toews, Bill (Louise) Toews, Neil (Tina) Toews, Elsie (Art) Willms and Lydia Toews. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Ferd and I worked together for many years at Church of The Way where we had many delightful and insightful conversations around our shared faith and sometime arcane theological issues. Ferd's knowledge and wisdom were always impressive and yet were invariably shared with genuine humility and gentleness. Apart from working alongside Ferd I remember him for two things: his deep love and commitment to Wanda and his ingenuity (and much elbow grease) in making improvements to their home. Knowing Ferd made all of us better persons. He was a mighty man in God's Kingdom. - Posted by: John Botkin (Friend) on: Feb 28, 2019
