LARRY RICHARD GANDER CPA, CA, FCMC Beloved husband of Denise Cyr-Gander (nee Dansereau) passed away on March 1, 2019. He was born in 1941 in Fort William, Ontario, son of Louis and Marie Gander. He leaves to mourn three children, son Stace (Pauline) of Kenora, Ontario, their children, Shae and Cole, son Sean (Michelle) of Winnipeg, their children, Julia and Avery, and daughter Shannon (Greg) of Winnipeg, their children, Liam and Sophie. Larry's family expanded in 1985 with the marriage to Denise, to include Robert Cyr of Stoney Creek, Ontario, daughter Leanne Esteves, Orangeville, Ontario, great-granddaughters, Ariana and Gabriela, son Corey Cyr of Orangeville, Ontario, Brian Cyr (Rachelle) of St. Albert, Alberta, their sons, Joshua and Nathaniel (Nate). He also leaves to mourn his brother Lorne (Marg) of Oakville, Ontario, his sisters-in-law, Georgette Berard (Noël) of Winnipeg and Patricia Ho of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Larry graduated high school in Fort William, also receiving an 8th grade diploma in piano from the U of Toronto Royal Conservatory of music. He would later form a band "The Blue Notes" playing in local venues. His musical expertise was greatly enjoyed by his family and friends in many evening get-togethers. Larry articled with the firm Clarkson Gordon receiving his CA in 1967; he later worked as manager of several medical clinics. He joined the firm of Arthur Anderson; and later became one of the founding partners of BCCA. A few years prior to retirement, Larry became a contractor with the firm of Grant Thornton. Larry was awarded the Fellowship of Certified Management consultant in recognition of his distinguished service, to the profession of management consulting. Larry, an avid curler, won many awards and was scouted by major league baseball, volunteered in many organizations; as a sports coach, as president of St. John Ambulance, as vice president, administrator and treasurer of the United Way in 1983, and as the founding president of the board of his condominium corporation. He was awarded the Governor General's commemorative medal in recognition of his significant contributions to compatriots, community and to Canada. Larry was a devoted father and grandfather to all his children. He was a true professional never dwelling on his many accomplishments. All who knew him would attest to, and value his integrity and friendship. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family interment will take place at a later date at St. Boniface Cathedral Columbarium. The family would like to acknowledge the nursing, support and medical staff of 6E Medicine at St. Boniface Hospital, Dr. Daenick, Dr. Battad and Dr. Sama.
