ALIDA MARIA BERGEN (BUHRS) January 28, 1920 - March 2, 2019 Alie was born in Amsterdam, one of 21 siblings. She was predeceased by her husband, Jan, in 1987, and is survived by children, John (Adrienne), Brigitta (Gilles), Alida (Claude), Peter (Gale) and Frank, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and her sister Gonnie. She immigrated to Canada in 1958 with Jan, four children, and expecting a newborn. She worked hard at various jobs to help support the household, while at the same time volunteering at the YMCA for over 30 years. Alie very much enjoyed the many road trips to BC and Edmonton with Jan and Frank. They also spent many days at the Oasis Beach. She loved the sand, sun and water. When she finally decided to retire, she worked on getting her driver's license. She continued to drive her little Sunbird until age 85, including long distance trips to Edmonton to visit her brother and sister. She was also present at most garage sales in her area, finding those amazing treasures. Always wanting family to visit - the more people in her house at any time, the happier she would be. She is once again surrounded by the many people who left before her. Oma, you are missed by all. Rest In Peace.
