YVONNE EMMA DYKES (BRAULT) November 19, 1938 - February 2, 2019 Yvonne died in her sleep at Haro Park Care Centre in Vancouver. Yvonne was a longtime West End resident, known for her independent spirit and feisty personality. Easily adapting to old age, when mobility became difficult she rejoiced in the freedom her scooter gave her. Along with fellow "scooterheads" from Haro Park, she would often freewheel down Haro Street, scoot over to Coal Harbour and take a spin on the seawall - or head for the Plaza of Nations to play the slots. Yvonne's longevity was aided by the generous support of her niece, Dorothy Arnet, of Sidney, BC. Her life was enriched by the faithful companionship of Lupita Servin, who visited Yvonne most afternoons, taking her out for ice cream on sunny days and spending mealtimes with her at Haro Park. In the days before Yvonne's death, she spoke of her wish to return to Winnipeg. As per her wishes, her ashes have been delivered to her niece, Shelley. Home at last!
