Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVICTORIA BAKER (YAREMKEWICH) March 17, 1927 - February 23, 2019 Peacefully, with her family by her side, Victoria passed away in Okotoks, Alberta at 91 years of age. Victoria is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Mike Magill, and granddaughters, Tara and Taylor of Calgary. Victoria was predeceased by her husband Edward; her parents, Anton and Sofia Yaremkewich; granddaughter Angel Magill; siblings, Mike (Anne) Yaremkewich, Joe Yaremkewich, Jean (Jack) Hunter, Stephanie Wishnowski, Walter (Doreen) Yardley; and all her brothers/sisters-in-law from the Baker family. She is survived by one brother-in-law, Ben Wishnowski, and many nieces and nephews. Born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, Victoria left home early to finish high school in Winnipeg, and stayed to pursue her studies to become a school teacher. Her first three years of teaching took place in Fisher Branch. Victoria then joined the teaching staff of the Beausejour Elementary School, where she taught for nine years. It was in Beausejour that she met her husband Edward. Victoria and Edward were married in 1953. While they lived in Beausejour, their only daughter Tami was born. In 1964, Victoria and Ed bought land in St. Andrews, Manitoba and built a new home. Victoria continued in her teaching profession. She taught with the Winnipeg School Division One for 22 years until her retirement in 1986. Victoria also continued with her own education at night school and summer school, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg in 1975, earning a few academic scholarships along the way. Victoria was an active member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Middlechurch, volunteering her time and talents as a reader and choir member. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's League. In addition to working full time as a teacher, Victoria was a remarkable homemaker and an exceptional cook. Cooking and baking were her passion. Her perogies and Christmas baking were legendary, made with exact precision and the utmost care. Victoria greatly enjoyed travelling and took her family on many adventures, to many destinations. Above all else, Victoria was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family tremendously and cherished her time spent with them, especially with her granddaughters. After 44 years, Victoria and Ed sold their home in St. Andrews and moved to Middlechurch On The Red in 2009. In 2010, Victoria was admitted into Middlechurch Home for care due to Alzheimer's disease. Eddy, her husband of 57 years, passed away in December 2010. Victoria moved to Okotoks in 2012 to be with her family and resided at Tudor Manor Care Home for six years until her passing. Victoria's family would like to thank her caregivers over the years at Selkirk Home Care, Middlechurch Home, Tudor Manor, and Dr. Richard Lindenschmidt, Dr. Kevin Saunders, Dr. Simon James and Dr. Janna Van Tonder. A special thank you to Cheri and Don Kasianchuk who provided support, care and whatever was requested of them. Victoria was a quiet, gentle soul. Always respectful and kind. So caring, with a most generous heart. Constantly putting others needs before her own. We love you Mom and will miss you dearly! We know you are now at peace and with Eddy. You leave us with our wonderful memories. Thank you for your love! VICHNAYA PAM'YAT. As per Victoria's wishes, cremation has taken place. I stumbled upon this today while thinking of Mr and Mrs Baker. Martino and I are so very sorry to hear of Mrs Baker’s passing. In 2004, we moved into our first home that would be across from the Baker’s. They immediately became great friends. We would play cards every weekend, watch PBS shows in the basement until late, drink floats on the driveway and were lucky enough to be picked up in the van and taken to all their favourite local spots. This included stops for ice cream, along the way. Mr Baker loved our dog. Toby has his own box of cookies across the street and always wanted to walk over. We didn’t know many people in the neighbourhood, so this relationship was very special to us. We truly felt like they looked out for us. Thanks to Mrs and Mr Baker, we became members of St Theresa’s parish and met even more members of the community. In 2008, we asked them to help with a very special part of our wedding ceremony. This is how close we had become. We tell stories about the Baker’s often, their kindness and humour will not be forgotten. We loved our time with them and will continue to miss them. To Tami, Mike, Taylor and Tara, we are so very sorry for your loss. Martino and Aynsley D’Ottavio - Posted by: Aynsley and Martino D’Ottavio (Neighbours) on: Feb 13, 2020

To Tami, Mike, Tara and Taylor go Our Heartfelt Sympathy. We have so many fond memories we will hold in our hearts. From our fun sleepovers and other get-togethers as children, where Auntie Vicky always made our favorite foods - then as adults, playing cards, sharing stories and laughter. With Uncle Eddy being the practical joker that he was and Auntie Vicky's contagious laugh - We laughed often! Auntie Vicky and Uncle Eddy really should be the Patron Saints of children! They loved children so much and would do anything to bring joy to a child's life. It was evident with their daughter growing up, their grandchildren (especially so!), their nieces and nephews, neighbours, church family and most certainly Auntie Vicky's students. Most days Auntie Vicky would bring extra food for lunch to share and extra clothing (hats, mitts, etc) for those who didn't have. We will miss you Aunty Vicky but you are Home again, with our Lord and the Love of your Life - Eddy! .. and most likely tending Heaven's gardens! I can just see those exquisite flowers in bloom... so until we meet again, we send our Love to you and our Thank you's, especially for your beautiful letter that changed our lives completely! Don, Cheri, Clayton, Tasha, Clayton Adam and Austin. - Posted by: Cheryl Kasianchuk (Niece and nephew and family) on: Mar 16, 2019

Tears have filled my eyes just reading her obituary as her kindness and gentleness come through. We all loved her dearly and can picture her sitting and listening to Uncle Ed's jokes for the 10th time and laughing the hardest - she was his biggest fan. RIP Auntie Vicki and never forget how much you were loved by us all. Love Alan and Sandi. - Posted by: Sandra and Alan Bodnarchuk (Niece) on: Mar 16, 2019
