GEORGE PERNSTEINER June 1, 1938 - March 22, 2019 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of George Pernsteiner. He passed peacefully at Riverview Health Centre after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer and leukemia. He will be dearly missed by his wife Emmy; daughter Sandra Kowal McBride (Ryan); granddaughter Madelyne Hill; sister Noreen Kenick; brother-in-law Alfred Durhack (Sonya); brother-in-law Horst Durhack (Gerri); along with many loving nieces and nephews that enriched his life. George retired at the age of 53 after 35 years with Hydro and the City of Winnipeg, ending his career as acting head of the License Branch. He enjoyed his 27 years of retirement, travelling, reading and playing golf. He leaves us with many happy memories. Many thanks to Dr. Paul Sawchuk, the staff of Concordia Hospital, the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre and the palliative care nurses who helped tend to George at home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Highway. Parking is available beside the building and in the parking lot of the church across Henderson Highway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concordia Foundation - 204-661-7156. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com
