JOSEPH WILLIAM PORZNAK

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joe Porznak on April 27, 2019. With his loving wife Maureen by his side, he left this world surrounded by her love and listening to their favourite song.
Joseph William Porznak was born on
October 23, 1961 in Winnipeg to Ilene and Stanley Porznak. He lost his father at the
tender age of eight months and along with his two siblings and with the help of family, friends and neighbours he was raised by Mom in the rural community of Old Kildonan. When reminiscing Joe would often marvel at what a great place it was to grow up. Many lifelong friends.
In the mid 1980s Joe started his own
business and quickly became the largest
employer of nieces and nephews in the
painting industry, and he patiently taught each one!
In 2003, Joe met the love of his life,
Maureen. Joe and Moe spent the next 15 years together in their Garden City home and out at Hillside Beach with family and friends. He often said that it was the happiest time of his life. Joe loved sports, music, his pets, spending time with his grandkids and fixing things from the Honey Do list. He was quite the handyman.
Joe is survived by his wife Maureen and her daughters, Amy and Kelly (Justin) and grandkids, Connor, Mila and Mallory, brother Brian (Monique) and their children, Meghan (Dave), Tyler (Charmagne) and sister Kathy and her children, Jordan (Callie), and Justin (Hailey) and little Jacob.
He was predeceased by his mother Ilene, father Stanley and brother-in-law Robert.
Cremation has taken place and a private
interment will be scheduled at a later date.
To honour Joe's life, we ask that all who wish to participate, to kindly make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba.
Goodbye my love. You were a kind and
gentle man.

  • To Maureen, Brian, Cathy & family members - I'm truly so sorry for the loss of a guy like Joe. We grew up together in the Old Kildonan hood in every area -from Red River School to sports freezing our butts at the rink playing spungy at -40 every night it seemed, & golfing away which we did a lot of back in the day. Joe always to this day amazed me how calm & collective he was to anything that came up, his laugh was an endless maze of happiness, when tears come to a laugh up you knew you were with Joe, he was that kinda guy. I will truly miss you my friend...love you buddy, Mike - Posted by: Mike Koltalo (freind) on: May 11, 2019

  • Dear Maureen ... from our family our most heartfelt condolences to you & your family. This is so very, very sad ... Joe was like a "nephew" to our Mom & yes our Dad - over the years they so enjoyed getting together with you guys at the lake. Though in her last years Mom wasn't able to get around, she'd still talk about you two so fondly. Although we haven't gotten to the lake much at all ourselves, we'll miss Joe - he was one of those down-to-Earth guys we need more of. - Posted by: Dennis Bayomi (Hillside friends) on: May 11, 2019
