JANIS MARGARET MURRAY
April 10, 1947 - May 6, 2019
Jan was born in Winnipeg and lived there until her retirement in 2003 when she moved to Victoria, BC. Jan met her second husband Stewart Murray in 1983. She and her husband Stew enjoyed the West Coast lifestyle and participated in golf, gardening and many social groups.
Jan graduated from Physiotherapy School in 1969 and worked in the profession for the next 34 years. As a single parent of two small children she undertook a Masters Program in Adult Education, graduating in 1984. She joined the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Manitoba and was responsible for all student co-op training placements. She was also the Manitoba representative to the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
Jan's love of music continued throughout her life from early days in the Winnipeg Girls' Choir to time with the Good News Choir in Victoria. Music was a true joy for her.
Jan leaves behind her loving husband Stewart, her father Walter Gibson, son David Epp (Danielle), uncle Neil Webster, brother Don Gibson (Brenda), sister Heather Gibson (Georgette Ganne), and grandchildren, Faith and Grace Epp, and Winter Dressler. Her beloved daughter Heather Dressler (Jason) succumbed to cancer in 2016.
Jan will be remembered for her witty sense of humour, her love of the chapel of the 18 holes, and her generosity of spirit.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amica at the Gorge, in particular Twila Thomson, for the care and support they provided to Jan during her last days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, 100 Harbour Rd., Victoria, BC on July 27 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your cancer charity of choice.

So sad for you Stewart. But really happy we all got together for coffee last spring in Victoria. If you are in Winnipeg, pick up the phone and give me a call. A few of us would love to see you and perhaps grab a coffee. Take good care of yourself now. Many hugs. - Posted by: Val Botwright (Friend for a long time.) on: May 25, 2019

So very sorry to hear of Jan's passing. Was very fortunate to know Jan professionallly through the School of Med Rehab, and later, although not recently, sadly, had visits with her in Victoria when I traveled there from Ladysmith, BC for business. I loved her quick wit, her wonderful warmth and genuine concern for others. I had the pleasure of meeting Stew as well at a couple of coffee get-togethers and they made a very happy couple. My thoughts are with you, Stew, and the family.........Sincerely, Hilary - Posted by: Hilary Bell (colleague and friend) on: May 14, 2019

It was great to get to know you at Physio school. We had so many great times and appreciated your concern for others. Sorry we did not stay more in touch after graduation. However good too see you when we visited Victoria. Sorry to heard that you were fighting cancer for all those years. May your families sorrow be lessened by their fond memories. You will be missed.
