MILTON BRIAN CARRIGAN
1928 - 2019
Milt was one of the most unique individuals you would ever meet. Did you know he was voted "Best Baby" at the St. Vital Fair in 1929? Milt was a good athlete and played many sports. He spent two years in Scotland playing hockey and enjoyed telling us the story of when he was voted "Rookie of the Year" in 1949 with the Falkirk Lions Hockey Club.
Working at Great West Saddlery, Milt gathered the skills to begin a very successful career as a travelling shoe salesman starting with Bata in 1959, and as he would then say, "the rest is history".
Milt missed his older brothers, Doug and Jack, who died too young and his sister Pat Frittenburg. His mother Agnes, lived until she was 94 and his love and care for her still resonates with his children.
Milt was happiest at the cottage at Brereton Lake that he and Alice began building in 1954. He was so disappointed that he wasn't going to get back there again to complete the projects on his list with Geri, the love of his life. So many memories are of time spent at the lake enjoying what he created, nurtured and treasured.
Milt had to endure the sadness of losing his eldest child, Patti in 2014. Greg, Wendy, Christine, Stefan and granddaughters Melissa, Samantha and Freyja will miss his sense of humour. Milt had a wonderful circle of colleagues, friends and family over the years who enjoyed receiving his creative cards in the mail. He is the only person we ever knew who bought stamps by the roll.
Milt chuckled to know that he had an outstanding debt to buy a round for his buddies. Cheers!
Thank you to all the healthcare providers that cared for Milt over the years and his short stay at the Victoria Hospital. We continue to have such appreciation for the incredible and difficult job they do.
Per Milt's wishes there will be no funeral.
If you so desire a donation to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated.

Greg, Christine, Geri and families we are so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. We have so many wonderful memories spent together from the time we were just kids, all running around at Brereton to Sunday morning curling, and the annual Travellers Bonspiel at Christmas. Many many cards were received over the years by our parents, I still have a few keepsakes from my mom. Just imagine the party they are all having now, at least I like to hope they are all together again, wouldn't that be fabulous!! Again our deepest condolences to all Lynn and Neil Ingram. You are in our thoughts, we will miss Uncle Milty😚 - Posted by: Lynn Ingram Reimer (Family friend) on: May 21, 2019

Greg, Cristine and families, believe in the end. Your father realized how precious you all were to him. As a family friend for most of my life, we enjoyed all the family. He was particularly close to my Dad as they had many a drink together. As time has gone on he became my winger, sometimes at the lake or on the golf course, and the many friends we introduced him too. It was always a Hoot with his sense of humour and colourful opinions . We are going to miss him. My family and friends will miss him on Wednesday at the Legion or on the Golf Course. I am sure he will be looking down on us all with love he was always afraid to convey . Rest in Peace MILTY, we shall all miss you. - Posted by: Tom and Evelyn & Family Johnstone (Friends) on: May 19, 2019

Greg, Wendy, Christine and Steph so sorry for your loss. He was an interesting man and always had that sweet smile. He was the first to congratulate me on my one and only hat trick over 45 years ago and I remember it to this day. Rest well Mr. Carrigan and thanks for the memories. Uncle Milty, I so enjoyed knowing you starting with meeting you in the Bell Block back in the early 70's. We are supposed to live life to it's fullest and you did. Grumpy and cantankerous, but joking all the way through it. I loved your sense of humour. You were one of a few and the only "shoe guy" I kept contact with after retirement. Have a great trip and as you always said. "And it turned out nice again." Bless you - Posted by: Bob Law (fellow shoe traveller) on: May 18, 2019
