RITA A. DUFORT

Rita A. Dufort (Trudeau) born February 13, 1934, passed away June 3, 2019 at Actionmarguerite Care Home.
She was predeceased by her husband Lyle Dufort (January 11, 1999). They had two daughters, Susan Poirier and Lisa Dufort. Rita had four brothers, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Rita grew up in a grocery store in Lorette with family surrounding them. She met, and married Lyle Dufort. Like her mom, she liked to sew and paint wooden crafts, bake and had an interest in plants and flowers. Until her last days, her love of animals and nature was evident. Looking after her family and home was most important to her. Rita lived a quiet life, and for the last 20 years missed our dad. Now she's with him, celebrating their reunion.

We love you Mom...to the moon and back.
We miss you both.
From your whole Family.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services held.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Lyle's parents were lifelong friends with Grant's parents. Grant used to look up to Lyle and thought he was so great when the parents got together. Lyle and Rita were at our wedding. I just loved him, he was so kind and cheerful. He was like his father. We have such fond memories of the both of them. They were such a perfect couple. Lyle was so talented in carpentry. What he did to their house in Transcona was unbelievable. It was the lovliest house in Transcona. He could do anything when it came to carpentry. He passed away so young it was so unfair. She never stopped loving him and at least they are now together. - Posted by: Grant and Marianne Humphreys (Friends) on: Jun 23, 2019

  • Thinking of you all with fondness this week. Great memories of your home on Victoria and bringing my daughter around. Lots of love to you Lisa & Joe and Susan & Roger - Posted by: Lynn Power (Friend) on: Jun 08, 2019

  • I bought Rita's little gingerbread cottage home on Victoria when she reluctantly moved into her lovely apartment on Yale. What a fascinating woman! Such a gem! She is at peace now. - Posted by: Joanne Adair (Neighbour) on: Jun 08, 2019
