Going to miss you Johnny. I will cherish the memories. I still have the little fire engine vinyl record you gave me. I've shared many of the stories you told me with my children & they had a lot to do with my son's firefighting. I was always so proud of you. Love always, Vicky xo - Posted by: Vicky Wishart (Michaelis) (Cousin) on: Sep 15, 2019

“I had the wonderful opportunity to work with John's wife Shirley at BWCS. Through Shirley, we met John - who just happened to work with my dad. My dad had the highest respect for John as a firefighter and as a man, and we had the highest respect for John as a person. Total class says it all about John. Love oozed from his pores. When a tornado stuck our house, John and Shirley were there immediately with support. Sharon and I have never forgotten their kindness. Rest in Peace, John!!! Condolences to the family. A donation has been sent to the Firefighters Burn Fund in John's memory." Dennis/Sharon McGavock - Posted by: Dennis McGavock (Friend) on: Aug 05, 2019

I just wrote a long tribute to Darcy, R.J. & Joel, but to add to that I admired Mr. Von Der Tol for his undying dedication & love to his family. He was always positive with his doings & thinking. He was the type of person that everybody liked. He always treated my son like a grandson of his own. This was special to me because my son didn't have a father or grandfather. He showed his fondness in simple gestures. I pray extra blessings, peace, friendship, & love for your entire clan/family. - Posted by: Rosemary Moran (Friend of Darcy Van Ser Til & her two Boys) on: Aug 03, 2019
