ANNA THORVALDSON
(nee CAYER)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Thorvaldson, on
September 20, 2019, at the age of 82 years. She passed peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Grace Hospice in Winnipeg, MB.
Anna leaves behind to grieve two children; Jason (Launa) Thorvaldson and Carla (Fredrik) Bergstrom. She also leaves four grandchildren; Tanner (19), Tuva (17), Regan (16) and Emilia (13), two sisters; Rose Menard and Irene (Con) Fisk, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a large network of close friends.
She was predeceased by her loving
husband of 59 years; Albert (Thor) Thorvaldson, her parents; Joseph and Yvonne Cayer; and six siblings.
Anna lived a life filled with great friends/family, music, dancing, laughing and of course cooking. We will all miss her
wonderful food; her kitchen was her happy place. After her career at CIBC, Anna moved to Black Sturgeon Lake to enjoy a lake side retirement. She worked hard in all aspects of her life and after moving back to Winnipeg in 2006, she continued to grow her social
network at Kiwanis Chateau and Fred
Douglas Place.
A private service will be held in her
honour.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Grace Hospice. They were extremely caring during her final months.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr. m001, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Allan and I met Thor and Anna back in 1992 when we bought our lake property two lots down from theirs. They were very welcoming and helpful during our build and we developed a special friendship with them and their two children, Jason and Carla! Allan and Thor hit it off as they both had worked for MTS. We would come out from Winnipeg every chance we could. We recall so many funny and crazy stories while spending time with Anna and Thor...Carla and Freddie's wedding at the lake, Anna's surprise 60th birthday in their garage, scouting for bears, and of course spending many a late nights playing "canasta" and "hearts"! Thor loved to win...even if that meant trying to cheat, but Anna was quick to catch him so the girls would win anyway!!! When Gina was born in May of 1995, a couple months later we came out from Winnipeg to the cottage and enjoyed getting together with them. Anna had many talents... she had knitted a beautiful pink baby outfit for Gina which I still have to this day! Anna also loved her massive garden, pickling all that delicious produce, and Thor and her would create such fun wooden crafts! We still have the push duck they made for Gina! Thanksgiving was always so much fun! Anna would make an amazing meal...as always!!! Al always said, "Anna's got the best "BUNS" in town"! We sold our cottage in 1999 and lost touch with them, however we heard now and again on how they were doing. Their greatest joy was their family...So sorry for your loss Carla & Freddie, Jason & Launa and to your children...may the memories you have keep a smile upon your face and in your hearts forever. - Posted by: Gloria, Allan & Gina Nixon (Friends from Black Sturgeon Lake, Ontario) on: Jul 15, 2020

  • So sorry to hear of Anna's passing. I worked for many years with Anna at CIBC. Anna was great to work with and always a hoot. Never a dull moment and I also remember Anna as a great cook. Always looked forward when we had potlucks to see what Anna brought and Anna could party like there was no tomorrow. Will miss seeing her at our annual retiree's dinner. I want to pass on my condolences to Anna's family. - Posted by: Jane Hill (Co-worker at CIBC) on: Oct 01, 2019

  • We were so sorry to hear of Anna’s passing. I met Anna when I worked with her husband Thor at Manitoba Telephone System in the Equipment Installation group as it was called then. Visits at Black Sturgeon and Kiwanis Chateau were always so much fun and enjoyable. Anna was such a lovely lady, with a wonderful smile. We want to send our most sincere condolences to Jason, Carla and all the family. Bob and Arlene Egerton, Okotoks, Alberta. - Posted by: Bob and Arlene Egerton (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2019

  • Thinking of everyone. Anna was soooo amazing. Uncle Albert just beamed when he talked of her- she was his chief assistant doing chickens. Everybody loved her. Especially Thor. Her kids were her dream. So many memories and a bucket full of fun. Gentle care to everyone. Warmest thoughts Kathy - Posted by: Kathy (Cousin ) on: Sep 30, 2019
