WILLIAM VAN LINGE
Bill was predeceased by his son Gerry Van Linge in 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Rolina, their children, Albert (Lori) and Edward (Lori), daughter-in-law Debbie, grandchildren, Kurt (Kelly), Robyn (Bennett), Breanne (Derrick), Shane, Owen, Joey, and great-grandchildren, Colby, Ivy, Harvey.
Bill was born May 28, 1934 in Amsterdam. At the age of 18 he spent two years in the Dutch Air Force servicing jet airplane engines. He obtained his pilot's license. In 1956 he married Rolina and four months later immigrated to Winnipeg. Shortly after he took a mechanics job at Mack Trucks. But evenings and weekends were busy servicing wells and pumps for local market gardeners and rural home owners. An elderly farmer suggested he was young enough to quit his job and start his own well and pump service business. Shortly after Mapleleaf Enterprises was born. It was a home based business for 42 years until it moved to Springfield road and the name changed to Maple Leaf Drilling. Bill enjoyed working around the shop, drawing up plans and picking up and dropping off supplies, and was on payroll until he passed. Bill also enjoyed boating, travelling, hot hot soup and meatballs. He even had a "Hole in One" at golfing.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bill to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

My deepest sympathy to Rolina and the family. I loved when William was Santa Claus at the Bake Oven and I could sit on his knee. He was such a good sport and everyone loved him. God Bless you Nellie Allen - Posted by: Nellie Allen (friend ) on: Oct 31, 2019

My condolences to the Van Linge family and the family at Maple Leaf. It has been a pleasure to work with Bill over the last 30 years. He was a problem solver that enjoyed the challenge. I will remember Bill as a pleasant owner who always made an effort to bring us coffee while visiting the many job sites where his 2 sons would be drilling in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Robert Kupchak (Client) on: Oct 30, 2019

I am very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Always enjoyed the time we spent at Teulon at my Uncle's place (snowmobiling etc.) and stayed with them while living on Glenway (if I remember this right). I was just a kid. I have very fond memories of times with Bill & Rollie and the boys. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Georgina Jones (nee Slater) (known thru my Uncle Charlie Slater) on: Oct 30, 2019
