MAURICE HUBERT CHARLES JOSEPH MOUSSEAU
November 3, 1928 - November 17, 2019
He will be greatly missed by his family; daughter Karen (John); sons, Raymond and David; grandchildren, Thomas and Danielle (Jonathan); great-grandson Leighton; sisters, Antonia and Jeanine (Roland); sisters-in-law, Aline and Jacqueline. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul, Georges, Lucien; and sister Annette.
Maurice was born to Antonin and Fabiola in St. Boniface, MB. He was the fourth of seven children. He attended Provencher School (an all-boys school) until grade 11, where he played for the school hockey and baseball teams. As a teenager, he also loved boxing which he did at the local gym. Maurice bowled in a men's 10-pin bowling league at Chateau Lanes and Club LaVerendrye for many years with his brothers, Paul and Georges. He was an avid sports fan, often attending hockey, football and baseball games with his family and friends. Maurice enjoyed coaching women's baseball in his younger years and boys' baseball when raising his family. Maurice worked at the Hudson Bay Company downtown store (in the Dairy Department) for five years where he met Pauline, who would become his future wife. They married in 1955, having a strong relationship of togetherness for more than 63 years until her passing in 2018. In 1952, Maurice began working at the Canadian News Company where he had a progressive 41 year career. He started as a delivery truck driver and advanced to the top company position of General Manager for the final 11 years, retiring in June 1993. In 1976, Maurice and Polly built a cottage in Ponemah, MB where they enjoyed many years of entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. They also enjoyed going on casino trips and winter vacations to Florida. Maurice was a fun-loving and generous man who enjoyed socializing with his family and friends. He always supported his children and grandchildren in their endeavours and really enjoyed spending time with his new great-grandson.
The family would like to thank all the attending paramedics and police officers for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. And thanks to their friends and staff at Devonshire House II, for all the support and kindness they showed towards our parents during their stay over the past six plus years.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St.

I will always treasure the joy that reflected in my brother's demeanor. Not having seen Maurice for a few years for several reasons, Roland and I will always cherish the pleasant moments with you and Pauline and my niece and nephews. It was always a pleasure recalling your younger days with many of your friends and cousins during family gatherings. Please watch over all of us and help us go through life's aches and pains as you had to do. Our sincerest condolences to you Karen, and to Raymond and David. We are so sorry for your family's loss. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was a wise and a kind man, and had many words of wisdom. Loved his wife and family and this was obvious each time we spoke. You could see how he was so proud to be a great-grandfather too! Second in line was hockey, football, baseball and knew when the games were airing, and that, is a true fan. We are honoured to have known, and truly miss him. - Posted by: Roger and Susan Poirier (Family Friends) on: Nov 23, 2019
