I will miss Doug's friendly wave and conversations when we met in the neighborhood I saw him in August and could see his failing health yet still chatting about things. • My deepest condolences to Doug's family. I've worked with and have known Doug for the last 20 years. He would often stop by our office on St. James Street and we would spend time over a cup of coffee reminiscing about friends and work in general. Doug had failing health over the last few years and I could see that it was gradually wearing him down. He really did make the most of the time he had left and from the comments left here made an impact on many people. Please know that Doug was a great friend. We'll all miss him. - Posted by: Giselle Schween (Friend in the mining industry ) on: Nov 26, 2019

  • We are so sadden to hear about Doug's passings. Our thoughts are prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Doug was a funny man! I can still hear him walking down the hall at work, teasing someone. He was even telling jokes at Riverview when we went to visit. What a sense of humor, even to the end. We will miss you Doug! • RIP Doug, you were loved by everyone and you will be missed by many and your fish stories as I see above will live on but your exploration stories and drilling stories will also live on. Condolences to the families especially Sandy, Mandy, Nathan and Kate. Love you all. - Posted by: Arnold Asham (Brother-in-law and fellow employee at the rock lab at mines and resources ) on: Nov 23, 2019

  • We had a hell of a time fishing & partying. Rented cabins for summer. U always were so easy going fun to be with. Many great memories. - Posted by: Gerry Herman (Old friend from Poplar Bay) on: Nov 23, 2019

  • I worked with Doug at Energy and Mines mostly at the Mining and Minerals Convention. He was a tireless worker, always willing to lend a hand. We had many laughs and adventures during that time. I also listened to all his stories about his hopes and plans with his mining claims after he retired. Unfortunately, I will be out of town on Friday and will be unable to attend his funeral. But he will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Janet Forbes (Co-worker and friend) on: Nov 23, 2019

  • Our Deepest condolences to Phyllis, Daniel and Michael, Doug you will be missed at the Big Whiteshell more than anyone knows. If there was a campfire, there was always a story, and a good laugh. Fishing will not be the same without the other grumpy Ole man in the boat. There will no longer be any Dougie fries at the lake. Rest well our friend. • We offer our condolences to Doug's family. He was well known and liked on the lake and around the campground. He always had a fish story to tell. His smile behind that big moustache will be missed. - Posted by: Eric and Colleen (Fellow Camper) on: Nov 23, 2019

  • Doug, you will be missed. All the great times at the lake and especially around the campfire. I always tell people how much I laughed after I went to bed in the trailer and you and Ted stayed outside and telling stories. I would laugh myself to sleep so many times. My deepest condolences to Phyllis, Daniel and Michael. I am so very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Ted and Paysy (Friends) on: Nov 23, 2019
