BETTY JEAN GARRIOCH
April 7, 1942 - December 7, 2019
Betty will be forever remembered by her husband, Archer; her children, Charlene (Chuck), Brent (Barb), Glen (Deb) and Kevin (Fiona); nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Hillary, Nolan, Avery, Benjamin, William, Kristine, Alex and Emily; along with her sisters, Jessie Dickson and Sue Burns.
Mom was born in Boissevain, Manitoba and then moved at a young age to Morden. She became a teletypist and moved to Winnipeg to find a job and then met her husband, Archer. She worked at the Tribune, Free Press, Sun and the Real Estate Board. Betty created a warm home where family and friends would spend time enjoying her food and drinking tea at the kitchen table. She was known for her pancakes, "Betty Burgers" and homemade bread. After retirement, Mom and Dad moved to the farm in Kinosota. Mom loved to mow the lawn for hours and then sit on the deck enjoying the beautiful yard with a glass of red wine. She also enjoyed walking to the lake, sitting at the beach and many coffee dates and happy hours with neighbours. Her family was her biggest hobby and her grandchildren a source of great pride. Nothing was better than a day when we were all together.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Gudmundson at St. Rose Hospital, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital (A5, CR4, B5 and Cardiac Clinic) and Misericordia Hospital (C6) for the wonderful care and compassion given to our mom in the last eight months of her life. We'd also like to thank our family and friends for their love and support.
A celebration of Mom's life will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Misericordia Hospital at: misericordiafoundation.com/donate-now.html
