To my Grandfather. Growing up I had no Father I could look to. You fulfilled that role Better than any man ever could even my own "blood Father". Grandpa its been so long since I have heard your laugh. It does hurt everyday. Myself, Hemi and you would go to the lake for a weekend as Grandfather and Grandson and those are some of the memories I hold closest to my Heart. Not only were you the best Father Figure a young boy could ask for, you taught me valuable skills lost nowadays to most young boys which used to be the Norm when you were growing up. You taught me to be A Marksman and A Proficient Scout. From What plants were edible, how to aim in A Scope At 200 yards. Because of you I have become a Independent man searching for his way through life. You showed me to be compassionate towards animals and those weaker than you. You Showed me the true meaning of life. And for this I can never forget you. all I can promise, is your Oldest grandson through my faults and my errors. You Are the voice that drives me to be a better Man. I love you grandpa, save a spot on that fishing boat in Heaven For me. - Posted by: Brendan Sutherland (Oldest Grandson ) on: Sep 13, 2024

Dad- I cannot believe it has been 4 years since your passing. I miss you more then words can say! The boys (Always be my boys) and I miss you terribly and it has been very difficult losing you! You were more than just a Grandpa, the boys looked up to you! We had so many chats in your Office at Westview School. Sometimes I had time in the morning to sit and have coffee with you! If we were running late you would take the boys and sign them into daycare for me! You always told me the latest of what was going on in the school. And you knew all the "Bad kids" which helped in friend selections lol. Since I was a child You always supplied stuff from the lost and found lol (after it was not claimed for a long time) Or discarded books from the library! You taught me how to skate, you taught me how to ride a bike! You ensured that the boys could do the same and bought them their first bikes, skates, fishing rods & tackle boxes. I thank you and Mom for taking the boys to the lake for weeks in summer as it was a much needed break for a single Mom of 3! No matter what I was going through in life you were so easy to talk to! When Deven was born you said ohhh my three sons!! You were so proud to show off your grandchildren! And Always had pictures of them on you. You loved nature and always ensured your bird feeders were well stocked with black oil sunflower seed! One day by the fire in the backyard a flying squirrel went over your head! Your entire childhood and most of your adult-hood you had never seen one!!! My Dad would take sandwiches out of the garbage that kids threw away at the school. He would freeze them and feed them to the wildlife just so he could get pictures of foxes, bears, flying squirrels lol. It was like Dad had an "Oprah moment "you get ham, you get baloney, you get cheese, you get PB" lol Dad was bad he played by his own rules. So the "Don't feed the bears" sign in the Whiteshell my Dad ignored" Oops" lol. I bought you your first trail camera! I wanted you to see what was happening in the “background” of the forest when you were not there! And how infrared works and can take amazing wildlife pictures & video. I hope Dad you are hearing me when I talk to you. Dad we all know it was me that watched Spiderman as you made tomato soup or grilled cheese sandwiches!!! Rest Easy, Enjoy being able to travel anywhere!! Love Charlene, Rob, Brendan, Tayler, Deven - Posted by: Charlene Sutherland (DAUGHTER) on: Feb 01, 2024

I just heard about Wayne and was so saddened by the news. I also had the pleasure of working with Wayne, first at Wayoata and then again at Westview elementary schools. He was a very caring, kind individual that would go out of his way to help you. I can't count the many times I would phone him up on the weekends to unlock the school for me. He would answer in that Wayne gruff manner, but not once did he turn me down. That was the kind of man Wayne was. He loved his family and his face would light up when talking or showing of their pictures. He treated both staff and students with that same loving manner. I will miss his smile and hearty laugh. Sincere condolences to his family. - Posted by: Patrick Bend (Friend & colleague) on: Jan 21, 2020

I worked with Wayne for many years while at Wayoata and Westview schools. In the morning, before classes, he and I would discuss cars, trucks and life at the cottage. He would often pull out pictures of his grandchildren to share with me. He was kind, very personable and the students had a lot of respect for him. I always knew that if something wasn’t working in the gym, I just had to mention it to Wayne and he would take care of it. I have a lot of respect for the way Wayne interacted with staff and students. My condolences to his family.
