JAMES (JIM) EDWARD TIBBS
August 24, 1946 - January 2, 2020

After a lengthy illness, Jim passed away on January 2, 2020, at the age of 73 years. He fought to the end to stay with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary E. Tibbs (nee Miller); his children, Mike Tibbs (wife Kelly Lount), Amy Young (nee Tibbs) (husband Cam Young) and their mother Marilyn Lund. He also leaves Mary's children, Joelle Chow (nee Skinner) (husband Damon Chow), and Jaimi Green (nee Skinner) (husband Graeme Green). He was especially proud of his five grandchildren, Myla and Andrew Chow, Sydney and Olivia Green and Hadrian Young. He was predeceased by his parents Mary A. Tibbs (nee Raike) and Rick Tibbs.
Jim was passionate about sports. He was a member at Pine Ridge Golf Club for over 50 years and had an incredible memory for details, especially related to hockey, golf and baseball. He also loved a good debate about politics.
We sincerely appreciate the compassion and professional care at CancerCare Manitoba over the last 10 years.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. His ashes will be placed at the Memorial Garden at Pine Ridge Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Jim was a wonderful member as I remember him when I was the golf professional at Pine Ridge. I remember young Mike as well, and the calls from Mary to call him. Please know that Jim was one of those members that every golf club should wish for. PAT O'DONNELL - Posted by: PAT O'DONNELL (FRIEND) on: Feb 18, 2020

  • Maria has known Jim for many years through Pine Ridge Golf Club...I met Jim over 20 years ago ...He was a wonderful man. We always enjoyed seeing him at the course...always had a big smile and warm greeting. When you met Jim he always seemed like such a good guy and every time you would run into him he would prove you right. He had a great sense of humour and always interesting to talk with..lots of great stories. We will miss seeing those long dress pants on the course no matter the weather. Our condolences to Mary and Mike and family..he will be missed. We imagine that when he runs into Pete Dye he will be giving him some tips on golf course design. - Posted by: Grant and Maria (friends) on: Jan 12, 2020
