PETER BORODENKO
June 12, 1934 - January 28, 2020

Peacefully on January 28, 2020, at Concordia Hospital, Peter Borodenko went to be with the Lord.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his son Darren (Terri); daughter Lisa; granddaughters, Kelsey and Madison; his sister Helen; and his wife Trudy.
Peter was predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years, Anne; his parents, Alexander and Olga; his sisters and brothers, Ada, Walter, Theodore, Matthew, Alexander, Nicholas, Ruth, Vera and Henry.
Peter was born in Dominion City, MB on June 12, 1934, where his family emigrated from Poland.
He grew up on the family farm and moved to Winnipeg where he met Anne, and they were married in 1956. Their son Darren was born in 1964, and they bought a new house and moved to Transcona in 1965, where they welcomed their daughter Lisa in 1970. The family enjoyed many vacations, including California, Vancouver, Toronto, and the Black Hills.
Peter loved the Lord. He sang in the choir, served as an usher, and drove the church bus for children's ministries. Darren and Terri were married in 1988. Their first daughter Kelsey was born in 1992, and shortly after Anne passed away. In September of 1993, after 27 years of bus operating, Peter retired from Winnipeg Transit. His second granddaughter Madison was born in 1998. His granddaughters were the greatest joy of his life, and could often be seen cuddling with them.
Peter enjoyed his retirement and met Trudy, and they were married in August 2003. Sadly, a few years later, Peter began his battle with dementia. He moved to Donwood Manor in 2008, where he lived for the last 11 years of his life.
The family would like to thank the staff of Donwood Manor for the care and love they showed Peter over the 11 years he resided there. Also a special thank you to the Concordia Hospital staff for the excellent care and support they provided Peter and his family in the last week of his life.
A celebration of Peter's home going will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donwood Manor Foundation Inc.

  • I’m so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing Lisa. I saw him at Donwood on two occasion while visiting someone from our church and spoke to him. He of course did not remember me at all. As you’re well aware, it’s never easy to lose a parent; it conjures up all kinds of thoughts and memories. You’re in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.
