MAURICE HUPE
May 1, 1954 - January 31, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maurice Hupé (Moe). He passed away at the Grace Hospital with his wife at his side, after succumbing from complications of a stroke he suffered in June 2019.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Rolande; his son Stephen (Lisa); daughter Nicole; grandson Jackson, who meant the world to him and his faithful companions, Charlie, Boots and Tigger. He is survived by his parents, Alphonse and Annette; his sister Gisele (Ken); his brother Mitch (Barb); sisters-in-law, Pauline (Terry), Denise (Rob), Sharon; brothers-in-law, Ron (Diane), Guy (Pearl) and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Moe was born and raised in St. Boniface. He developed a love for sports at a young age and enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and basketball. He would later go on to work at the Winnipeg Tax Centre for 30 years. Moe loved to be with family and friends. Whether it was going to St. Malo, going to baseball spring training camp, or just having a beer while barbequing, he was the light of the conversation. He looked forward every year to celebrating American Thanksgiving with friends, Teddy, Al, Alice, Sharon, Rob and Dino. He cherished time spent with his grandson any chance he could get.
A celebration of Moe's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
He was very appreciative of those that were so helpful after he became ill. He was comforted by his frequent visits from his parents, and Gisele and Mitch. He loved you too, brother. Special thanks to Pauline, Sharon, Denise and Ashley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Moe to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  • Rolande and Mitch and family, I was so sorry to hear of Moe's passing. We were all praying that he would get better soon...but this was not to be. My mom, Jesse and myself are so very sorry for your loss. I wish I could attend the funeral, but a previous appointment for my mother has made it an impossibility. Moe was a wonderful person and I want you to know that we will miss him very much and you have our deepest sympathy. Stay strong and know that the memory of Moe will forever be in our hearts. Linda Leclerc, Jesse Lang and Delphine Lang. - Posted by: Linda Leclerc (friend) on: Feb 10, 2020

  • So sorry for your family's loss, I worked with Moe at the tax centre. We had a lot of interesting conversations. He was the kindest of souls, always treating our unit with donuts on pay days. He will be missed. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Michelle (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2020

  • I would like to pass along my deepest condolences to Rolande, and family. Moe's parents, and siblings. I lived across the street from Moe on Aulneau. Went to the same high school. We even dated for awhile. I have thought of him occasionally over the years. I am sincerely sad to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Cathy (Cane) Dearman (Friend, from High School.) on: Feb 09, 2020

  • Moe was one of my closest friends. I spent a great deal of time at his place hanging out together. Unfortunately we lost touch when I left Winnipeg. A couple of years ago, Moe sent me a picture of our fastball team from the late 70’s which I proudly displayed at my work office. A few days before his passing, someone looked at the picture, smiled (probably laughing inside at our long hair and mustaches) and pointed out that both Moe and I looked alike! Goodbye old buddy. I will miss you but I will always remember the great times we had. - Posted by: Fred Remillard (Friend ) on: Feb 08, 2020

  • So sorry for your loss. I do know what it is like to lose a husband. I am sorry I will not be able to be at the celebration of life as I am in Mexico it my thoughts and prayers are with you and the whole family. My sincere condolences. - Posted by: Yvette Gregorash (Cousin to Rolande ) on: Feb 08, 2020
