LILLIAN (LIL) MARIE BLAHNIK
February 15, 1930 - March 1, 2020
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack; daughter, Louise; son, Bob; parents, Hector and Marie Louise Demarcke; and her eight siblings and their spouses. She will be deeply missed by her children, Betty (John), Connie (David), and Joanne (Tom); son-in-law Wayne; along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was born in Lorette, MB. She met Dad at a barn dance and they married in 1947. They lived in Grande Pointe, where they farmed and raised their five children. They had a very happy home with lots of family and friends living close by. She and Dad worked extremely hard on the farm, and provided a loving home for the family to grow up in. She valued the time she spent with her family, playing card games, working in her gardens, and the road trips she took with Dad and her kids. She took on the task of navigator and took great pride in getting us to our destinations. She taught us all so many valuable life lessons. She was an excellent cook, and always had fresh baking and bountiful meals ready for all. She made the best borscht in the world!
Mom moved to Misericordia Place in 2016 when her health began failing. Many thanks for the kindness and care provided by the staff on MP2. A very special thanks to the wonderful companions who made the days much brighter for Mom. The last few years were challenging for Mom, but she faced every day with great determination and refused to give up. While we miss her, we take comfort that she is at peace, and is with all her loved ones who passed before her.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Emile Church, 556 St. Anne's Road, with Father Gerry Sembrano, presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, would be greatly appreciated.
"We love you Mom, we miss you everyday and are so thankful for the love you gave us".

Our deepest condolences to the family. I visited with her last fall at Misericordia Place and spent sometime trying to converse with her. She was still very much talkative then. We will not be able to attend the services but our prayers will be with you all. Peaceful rest auntie. - Posted by: Hector & Annette Demarcke (nephew) on: Mar 07, 2020
