KIM DOUGLAS WIEBE

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Kim Wiebe on Monday, April 6, 2020.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Glenda Scott and their sons, Jordan and Owen. Also left to mourn are siblings, Lynn (Gary), Jay (Valerie) and Maxine; mother-in-law Levinia Scott; brothers and sisters-in-law, Debi (Tony), Joe (Sylvia) and Garry (Fay); along with extended family and friends, too numerous to name.
He was predeceased by his daughter Kalli; parents, John and Mary Wiebe; father-in-law Jack Scott; and nephew Brent Gillson.
Kim was born August 11, 1959. He grew up in Fort Garry and graduated from Vincent Massey. Shortly after, he started his career (35 years) with Canada Safeway, working his way up to Produce Manager. He remained with the same title while employed at Red River COOP for the past six years. He was an avid sports fan, but will always be remembered for his hard work, honesty, sense of humour, and devotion to his family.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

  • To our dear friends Glenda, Jordan and Owen. I just heard about this today from Cheryl and my heart is so heavy. Kim was an amazing Daddy to his boys, a loving husband to you, Glenda, and just in of the nicest guys we've ever known. So many memories are flooding my brain right now and I'm just so deeply sorry. • Dear Weibe family, No adequate words can be found to express my sincere condolences and sympathy to you all. Kim was a kind, thoughtful, and generous person who continued to think of our child care centre for amazing craft materials that he collected just for us, years after Owen had graduated from the centre. May you all be comforted by the infinate love you all share. - Posted by: Giovanna (Early Childhood Educator to Owen) on: Jun 02, 2020

  • My heartfelt condolences to Kim’s family. I’ve known Kim for a good 30 years and he was one guy that adapted but never changed. Over all those years we saw a lot of changes, Kim rolled with the punches with a positive attitude which is what made him a great leader and co worker. I’m sure he will be missed by many but his kindness and friendship will never be forgotten. See you on the other side🙏 - Posted by: joe missalino (Co worker) on: Apr 15, 2020

  • I’m so sorry for your loss Glenda. As you know I met Kim about 35 years ago, I worked at Safeway with him and he actually trained me in the produce department. He was a very hard worker while still being fun to work with. In his soft-spoken manner he made funny little jokes and comments and he had a wit and dryness to his humour that sometimes made it hard to tell when he was joking, but he always was. We both owned old mustangs and used to spend lots of time talking about them. I have a lot of fond memories of Kim. He really was a nice, honest guy that would never harm anybody. Hard to believe! R.I.P. Kim. - Posted by: Grant Page (Friend) on: Apr 14, 2020

  • I am truly heartbroken. Kim was such an amazing man. I met Kim back in November, 2019 when I was transferred to his store to work as his second assistant manager in his produce department. He was such a great guy to work with. Always smiling. Always there to help. He taught me so much during these last few months of knowing him. All of us at Co op miss you so so much, Kim. We promise not to let you down. Your produce team is the best. Love, always. - Posted by: Faith Stangl (Coworker) on: Apr 12, 2020

  • Kim had a great sense of humour, and was a hard working guy with me at Safeway, a pretty good hockey player as well. - Posted by: Mike Nicholls ( Co-worker and friend) on: Apr 12, 2020

  • Such sad news, I am so sorry for your loss. Kim & I went to school together and played hockey together for many years. We were usually roommates on the out of town trips, sleeping with his eyes open freaked me out! LOL. He was such a kind hearted giant with a great sense of humour. The wrestlers in the next life better watch out. The world will be a much different place without him. - Posted by: Jeff Rentz (friend) on: Apr 11, 2020

  • My condolences to the family !! Shocking news for me as I've know Kim for 35 years plus. Great person will be greatly missed, will also miss our conversations about world problems and of course Winnipeg Jets. - Posted by: Tino Passante (Hairstylist) on: Apr 11, 2020
