JAMES NORMAN PRIESTLEY

On Monday, May 4, 2020, the world lost a kindhearted man. James was born November 16, 1963 and passed away at the age of 56, at the Health Sciences Centre, with his son Cole by his side. James courageously and quietly persevered through numerous serious health obstacles over the past 15 years - he had a tremendous amount of strength.
James is survived by his son Cole. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Katherine and Allyson (Mark), nieces and nephews, Laurissa (David), Shellyna (Andrew), Corbin (Maria), Stevan (Kristy), Kate-Lynn (Dylan), Michael (RJ), Brittany, Ryan and Sarah, great-nieces, Emily and Izabella, Aunt Lorna, Uncle Harold, many cousins, and loads of friends.
James was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Stephanie, sisters, Barbara and Donna, and brother-in-law Keith.
James was born in Winnipeg, the fourth child of Norm and Stephanie and their only son. At age six, the family moved to Thompson where James enjoyed a wonderful upbringing, acquired his love of fishing and snowmobiling, and made numerous lifelong friends. James graduated from R.D. Parker in 1981 and returned to Winnipeg where he lived until his death. James spent his working career in the glass industry. James was overjoyed when his son Cole was born in 1995. Throughout the rest of his life Cole remained his proudest accomplishment.
James was a conversationalist - he could chat with anyone. He was friendly, fun loving and humourous. He could cut a rug to his favourite country tune, tell a joke, fish and fillet like a pro, cook a great meal, buy a thoughtful gift, give the warmest hugs and was an all-round stand up kind of man. James will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends. Loving and kind in all his ways, upright and good till the end of his days. Sincere and true in heart and mind, beautiful memories left behind.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of James' life will be held at a later date.
If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in James' memory to Spinal Cord Injury Manitoba or Diabetes Canada.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My life crossed paths with James's in many ways. He was a customer of mine when he worked with his father, than a co-worker when he came to work at Alumicor. I remember how hard he worked and wanted to please the customers. More than that however, is I remember how enjoyable he was to be around. Always Happy and joking, which always made others feel the same way. I didn't see him for a while but fortunately we reconnected in the past year and I saw him quite recently. I thought he was doing well. I have lots of fond memories of James, as many do! - Posted by: Ken Rowson (Co-Worker and friend) on: May 20, 2020

  • I went to high school with James and we were both born in Nov 1963 and both grads of RDPC in class of '81, and he was very much an integral part of our circle of friends. Very sad to hear that he's left us, way too soon, but will forever remain part of my memories of fun times. RIP Pix! You'll be missed, mate! - Posted by: Marlon Sayer (Friend) on: May 13, 2020
