MILDRED (MILLIE) PUTLAND
April 22, 1934 - July 14, 2020
Born in Hamilton, Ontario; Millie often recalled fond memories of growing up with her dearest friend, Evelyn. Millie later settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she made a home for over 50 years and eventually met her life partner, Willi Paul. Millie was a very dedicated and hard worker who especially enjoyed her time at The Manitoba Co-Operator where she made many lifelong friends.
You could always count on Millie for great (long winded) stories, sharp witty commentary, and, most importantly, a warm hug. When Millie wasn't up at all hours of the night getting "lost" in a good book, she loved sitting in the sun among the beautiful flowers in Willi's garden and enjoying a nice glass of Bailey's at dinner parties (or whenever she felt like it!).
Millie meant so much to all of us and will be fondly remembered as a mother, an aunt, a sister, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a loving partner, a dear friend and so much more.
Millie leaves to mourn her life partner of 38 years, Willi Paul; daughters, Linda Robinson (Rick, Matthew, Sarah), and Mary Ellen (Haley); daughter-in-law Florence Putland; grandchildren, Erin (Vincent) and Richard; sister Rosemary; sons-in-law, Lorne Dyck (and family), and William Paul (Mary and family) as well as many nieces, nephews, great friends and loved ones.
Millie now joins her son John, parents, Rose and James Kennelly, brother Jim, sister-in-law Mary Kennelly, and daughter-in-law Irene Dyck.
There is no service planned at this time. We ask instead that people honour Millie's life by taking a moment to share stories, fond memories and toast Millie's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 0Y4.
