ULO RAABE
August 7, 1922 - July 31, 2020
Ulo was predeceased by his parents, August and Adele Raabe, brother Enno, cousin Vilma, and wife of 61 years, Natalie. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Claudia and Irene (Bruce), family and friends.
Ulo was born in Estonia and grew up on a farm near Tallinn. His education was interrupted by the Second World War but he was determined to be an electrical engineer and received his degree in 1947. He immigrated to Canada and eventually came to live in Winnipeg marrying Natalie in 1950. Ulo began his career at Manitoba Hydro where he remained until retiring as Station Design Department Manager 35 years later.
Ulo was a kind, compassionate, generous person who will be greatly missed. His daughters cherish the many memories - vacations driving across Canada and USA; boating on Lake Winnipeg; his inventions; the basement work shop.
A ceremony to celebrate his life will take place 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2020 at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home. Visit their website at www.dignitymemorial.com.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Ulo's memory to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, Actionmarguerite Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

I too, have very fond memories of living next door to your family growing up and playing with Irene in your gorgeous backyard. I remember your dad asking us out for boat rides on the Red River and recall how wonderful those rides were for my siblings Danny and Carol. My dad, Louis, really looked up to your father and respected him. I am sorry to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with all of you. He truly was a wonderful, quiet, and thoughtful man and a considerate neighbor; we were blessed to know him. Louise, your old next door neighbor. I just saw this and felt the need to reach out. 01/25/21 - Posted by: Louise Gladish/Myshkowsky (Neighbor ) on: Jan 25, 2021

We were very honoured to attend Ulo/Mr.Raabe's memorial service. It was a special time to reminisce about many years of friendship at work and in boating. Louise was also able to spend time thinking of Mr. August Raabe, whom she had the opportunity to nurse at St.B many years ago. We wish the family peace and many wonderful memories of two very kind people- Ulo and Natalie. - Posted by: Alfred and Mildred Buelow, Louise Buelow-Smith (Friend and Co-Worker) on: Aug 07, 2020
